Founder
Ever since he was a young child, Robert-Jan was drawn to watches, even though it were digital Casio and quartz Swatch models at the time. In the mid-1990s, his interest increased when he started to read about mechanical watches in magazines, books, and on the first internet platforms on watches.
In 1999 he bought his first mechanical watch, a Speedmaster, which made him sell his car to be able to do so. A fast-forward to 2004 and Robert-Jan started to write about watches on this website to share his knowledge and getting in touch with like-minded people. In 2008 he made his first trip to Baselworld and from that moment on he was completely hooked to the watch industry. In 2012, he coined Speedy Tuesday as he had become a Speedmaster collector himself in the course of time. With a modest collection of watches from several brands, he still doesn’t call himself a collector.
He only buys what he wears, although he’s known to be a hoarder of things. His aluminum Rimowa suitcase is his loyal companion when he visits watch manufacturers, events, auctions, and get-togethers with collectors.
Robert-Jan is (guest)speaker on watch events and consulted a number of watch brands in the past but writing a good story on watches is his favorite activity. Follow him on Instagram @rjbroer. E-mail: [email protected]
