Introducing: Two New Limited Edition Breitling Endurance Pro Watches For The IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship
Breitling’s Endurance Pro keeps going from strength to strength. Despite the radical design and somewhat antithetical approach to luxury watchmaking, the Endurance Pro has found favor amongst the enthusiasts and consumer market. Adding 1 millimeter to an established diameter in the online watch community can instigate a feverish debate. Yet, when Breitling went as non-traditional as possible, the Endurance Pro became celebrated for its ability to offer something different in luxury. More importantly, the Endurance Pro’s namesake durability proves adaptable to extreme sports and activities. This is why these two new limited editions celebrate and continue the partnership with the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship triathlon since 2021.
We’ve covered the specs that make the Endurance Pro so robust, but it’s worth reiterating as it’s only a three-year-old model. The lightness comes down to the proprietary scratch-resistant 100% Swiss-made Breitlight composite case. Alongside this is the thermo-compensated SuperQuartz caliber Breitling 82, which is far more shock resistant than a mechanical movement. Combined with the 22mm lug-width Diver Pro rubber strap, the Endurance Pro is a true featherweight at 64.5 grams. The ultra-lightness mixed with a tough outer shell is why many owners like to take their Endurance Pros running, swimming, and cycling, including Fratello’s CEO, Timo Holz. I caught up with Timo to understand his thoughts on the Endurance Pro.
Breitling Endurance Pro — An owner’s perspective
Ben Hodges: Hey, Timo. I understand you have the Breitling Endurance Pro. What do you like about it?
Timo Holz: The Endurance Pro is just a fun sports watch, the best non-smart luxury sports watch there is, if you ask me.
BH: I have two Breitling Aerospace watches myself, and I enjoy them too. I just haven’t got the Endurance Pro yet, so what makes it different?
TH: It’s super lightweight, comfy, and doesn’t scratch. If I take this watch to The Hague, I don’t put it in a pouch; I just throw it in my bag.
Thanks, Timo; it was great to get your perspective on the Endurance Pro. What differentiates Timo’s watch from one of the new limited-edition watches is that these use a titanium case. This high-performance titanium version is a 250-piece run to celebrate the women’s IRONMAN competition in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, on October 14th, 2023. With the titanium case, the Endurance Pro is 20 grams heavier (86.5 grams) than the Breitlight version. But it still retains the light-yet-rugged aesthetic. This model is not the first Endurance Pro with a titanium case. Last year gave us the very citrusy IRONMAN edition with a yellow ombré dial for the American market.
The next edition is also limited to 250 pieces and marks the competition in Lahti, Finland, from August 26th–27th, 2023. It has the signature turquoise color scheme, a rubber IRONMAN-print Diver Pro strap, and the embossed race logo at 6 o’clock.
Bold and proud
The bold numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock are consistent across the Endurance Pro line. These oversized markers fill the blank spaces of the anthracite dial and sit partially beneath the chronograph sub-dials. Occupying the area at 12 o’clock is the applied Breitling winged-B logo. The date window can be found tucked away at 4:30. With this concoction, it might sound like the dial is a mess. But the busy dial works well in person (and especially during strenuous activities). The bidirectional compass-scale bezel is slightly less helpful. I prefer a 12-hour scale for at-a-glance dual time zones. With a 100-meter depth rating and all-weather adaptability, new IRONMAN Endurance Pro editions are up for any adventure. Both watches are limited to 250 pieces and are only available at Breitling.com, selected boutiques, dealers, and the Official IRONMAN Merchandise Store at the race venue. The Breitlight version is €3,550, and the titanium model is €3,950.
“The Endurance Pro IRONMAN range was designed to stand up to the toughest challenges. It’s the result of our brands’ shared spirit of performance and precision. Completing the IRONMAN is the dream of a lifetime for so many people; it deserves an extraordinary way to be remembered.” — Breitling CEO Georges Kern.
