Formex Swiss Watches: ELEMENT Ceramic Bezel Black
Introducing the most affordable high-end watch in the world
The young and independent Swiss watch manufacturer, Formex Swiss Watches, is originally known for their patented case suspension system. They design, develop and build watches in-house and since last year, exclusively sell them online and directly to the final customer. With their newest model, the ELEMENT Ceramic Bezel Black, Formex introduces a bold Swiss timepiece made of high-tech materials and manufactured with cutting-edge technologies. Though high-end in quality, materials and features, the price tag is affordable and results in unprecedented value for money in this segment.
Scratch-proof high-tech ceramic bezel
The deep black ceramic bezel is made of zirconium oxide, a high-tech ceramic that is approximately seven times harder, but two thirds lighter than steel. To produce it, a special powder is pressed at 1550 bar and heated up to 1,550°C. Its superior hardness and solidity make it virtually impervious to scratches. Four CNC milling and grinding operations are executed to reach the final shape. The vertical satin finish on top and the mirror polish on the side of the bezel are achieved by using diamond-studded high precision finishing tools.
Unique stainless steel case with patented suspension
With the 46mm case made of the toughest 316L stainless steel, Formex reimagined their design DNA. Composed of 38 individual components, the complex case resists water depths of up to 100m. Hand-finished with flawless precision and craftsmanship, the watch comes alive with facets of brushed, mirror-polished and sandblasted surfaces, elevating the powerful shapes and elegant lines of the case. With its patented case suspension system, protecting the watch’s movement from heavy impacts and adding to the comfort on the wrist by adapting to the wearer’s movements, this system has been an integral part of Formex timepieces since the very beginning of the brand.
Formex ELEMENT Ceramic Bezel Black
One of the most reliable and accurate Swiss automatic movements
The anti-reflective sapphire crystal on the laser-engraved case back offers a view of the horological engine, the legendary Valjoux 7750 self-winding chronograph movement with a 42-hour power reserve. On the dial, the chronograph counters with hints of red and the 60 second scale on the flange emphasize Formex’ origins as a motorsport watch manufacturer. The base satin finish matches the bezel’s top and powerful Super-Luminova on the hands and the machined indexes ensure perfect readability, even in the darkest environment.
State of the art folding clasp with patented fine-adjustment
The ELEMENT can be worn on either a black or brown leather crocodile-embossed strap with stitching of the same color or a black oiled leather strap with white stitching, both made of Italian calf-leather. Another distinguishing feature is the ultra-strong and light-weight folding clasp, made of carbon fiber composite and a stainless-steel cover. This durable clasp has an easy to use, patented fine-adjustment, allowing that perfect fit on the wrist in all conditions.

Try before buy – Online watch shopping #betweenyouandus
Going the online direct-to-consumer path brings many advantages, such as the ability to disregard retailer margins (and therefore offer much more value for money) and a more direct contact to the customer. The main problem however, is how do customers try on watches in the first place. Formex developed an Augmented Reality App that lets you try on their watches virtually on your own wrist. The Formex TryOn App is available for free in the AppStore and GooglePlay. Along with their bold move to turn their back on the brick and mortar retail business, Formex erased drawbacks of online watch shopping by offering an all-inclusive pricing, a free return policy and an extended warranty.
The ELEMENT collection
The ELEMENT collection consists of the ELEMENT Full Steel ($1.290) and the ELEMENT Ceramic Bezel ($1.490), both available with either the black satin-finished or white polished dial.
