Introducing: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface In A New Size And Two Colorways
Jaeger-LeCoultre says the two new Reverso Tribute Monoface models are a perfect fit for both men and women. Well, first, we must try these watches in real life before passing a judgment like that. They look promising, though, thanks to their dimensions, which stay close to the original Reverso from 1931. Other new additions to the collection are the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon in a steel swiveling case and the Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds in 18K pink gold with a dark blue lacquered dial.
Art Deco never goes out of style — at least not in Le Sentier, where Jaeger-LeCoultre resides. The Reverso, the epitome of Art Deco design, continues to defy raging hype and changing trends while evolving steadily. Now four new references ranging from basic to complicated make their appearance.
A new size for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface
For some, owning a rather petite vintage Reverso from 1931 is a dream. Finding one in good condition, however, is not easy. JLC comes to the rescue by introducing the Reverso Tribute Monoface in a new size that stays close to the proportions of the original watch. This new steel case has a 24.4mm diameter, a 40.1mm length, and a slim 7.56mm profile. Inside it beats the manually wound caliber 822.
You can choose between a silver opaline (ref. Q7168420) or a blue sunray lacquered dial (ref. Q716848J). The easy-to-switch straps outfitted with an interchangeable folding clasp are a new design from the Argentinian leather specialist Casa Fagliano. These straps feature both smooth calfskin and cross-hatch Saffiano calfskin for contrasting textures. There are six colors in total — the ones you see here plus four that are available separately. When you go to the nearest boutique for another strap, you can inquire about putting an engraving or a decoration in lacquer on the blank case back. Just like the original Reverso, the two new timepieces are robust and sporty canvases that invite owners to express personal style or celebrate special memories. Both references have a price of €9,700 / US$8,900.
The Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon, now in a steel case
Last year, the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon debuted in pink gold, and now there’s one in steel (ref. Q392845J). This watch is an evolution of the 1994 Duoface model in platinum showing two contrasting dials, each displaying a different time zone and operated by a single mechanism. Caliber 847’s highlight is a tourbillon cage that spins on peripheral ball bearings. This allows the movement to be only 3.9mm thick and the entire watch case to be just 9.15mm thick. The case also measures 27.4mm wide and 45.5mm long and comes equipped with a black alligator strap. However, a gray Casa Fagliano calfskin strap is included as well.
In contrast to the cool gray front dial with its radiant sunray pattern, the reverse, which shows the second time zone, has an open-worked dial. It invites you to observe and study the complicated movement with its hand-beveled bridges and surfaces decorated with Clous de Paris manual guilloché. The price for this watch is available upon request.
The new Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds in radiant pink gold and blue
The 18K pink gold Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds is now available with a front dial in glossy, inky blue lacquer (ref. Q3982590). Since this is a Duoface, it also has a second dial, and that one got redesigned. It shows ridged pink gold indexes applied to a silver background, a recessed center, and a sophisticated 24-hour (night-day) display.
The pink gold case measures 28.3mm wide, 47mm long, and 9.6mm thick, and it houses the manually wound caliber 854A/2. That’s the same 19-jewel, 3Hz in-house movement that powers most of the current Duoface models. It displays the hours, minutes, and small seconds on the blue dial, which has 20 layers of lacquer. On the reverse silver dial, it shows an additional time zone and a 24-hour indicator. You can adjust this time zone with a small slider set into the top case band, which remains invisible until you release the case from the cradle. The price for this Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds is €27,900 / US$25,500.
Stay tuned for hands-on reviews of these novelties. In particular, the two Monoface versions that come close to the original 1931 Reverso’s proportions should be quite interesting indeed.
