Hello, and welcome to Fratello Talks. Could this be the next new Rolex? In today’s episode, we put ourselves in the shoes of the brand’s product developers and exchanged some pitches about what kind of watch we’d love to see Rolex release next. We fully acknowledge it’s practically impossible to guess The Crown’s next move. Still, it was a fun thought experiment to see which direction it could take. We discuss far-fetched wishful thinking, tongue-in-cheek suggestions, and potentially great ideas that genuinely got us excited. But before we give the game away, let’s get to this week’s wrist check.

Oris Momotaro Divers Sixty-Five on wrist

Wrist check

Today, Lex is back on a double-denim kick with his Oris × Momotaro Divers Sixty-Five. Back on the original strap, this seldom-seen watch is certainly a unique-looking limited edition that works extremely well. Lex is a fan, and now that it’s back from service, we’re sure to see it making more appearances on his wrist going forward. He’ll be working hard on getting some sick fades on that denim strap!

VPC Type 37HW Delft Blue pocket shot

Thomas is dutifully representing his brand with the VPC Type 37HW on his wrist. Today, he’s wearing the Delft Blue variant, which matches his blue and white getup. It’s an exciting time at VPC headquarters, and for those who pre-ordered a Type 37HW, deliveries should be happening in just a few weeks. If you’ve been holding off on getting one, you’ll be happy to know that there will also be a small stock of ready-to-ship watches available soon. If you want to stay up to date, sign up for the VPC newsletter at the bottom of the brand’s page.

Tudor Black Bay FXD GMT wrist shot

Nacho is wearing the new Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT. Whereas he normally sticks to wearing watches he owns for the podcast, he’s made an exception because this one exemplifies the kind of iterative creativity that exists within the Rolex group of brands and positively represents the fact that great new watches are still coming out. As you’ll tell by his picks, he has also contracted a slight obsession with GMTs lately. And this latest FXD certainly satisfies, though, for now, he’s still happy sticking with his black-dialed “USN” model.

Fratello Talks: Could This Be The Next New Rolex?

We kick off with Nacho’s formula for creating a new Rolex model. It’s simple: you take a glamorous or exotic location, hobby, or means of transport, and combine it with either “-Dweller,” “-Master,” or “-King.” Examples of possible results include (but are not limited to) Jet-Ski-King, Casino-Master, or Sauna-Dweller. The final method is to simply choose your favorite North American race track, and, presto, you have a new Rolex! Formulas aside, in this episode, each of the guys makes a handful of suggestions about what he’d love to see. If you want to hear all about them, be sure to tune in!
