Fratello Talks: Geneva Watch Days 2024 — Fair Recap And Highlights
Hello, and welcome to Fratello Talks! Today, we’re talking about Geneva Watch Days 2024. Nacho, RJ, and Lex come together after spending some time in the Swiss capital and recount their experience. They start by giving you a taste of what made this year’s show feel different from the previous three and end up walking through some highlights. They had three intense days with many appointments and hundreds of new watches from seemingly just as many brands, so this episode will only cover some of the watches that truly stuck with them. But before we get into it, let’s see what watches are, quite literally, stuck to their wrists today.
Wrist check
We start with RJ, who was ready to return to a Speedmaster after spending a week wearing his yellow gold Breguet Tradition. And it’s not just any Speedy on his wrist. Today, he’s rocking his modern Omega Speedmaster Calibre 321, which he nicknamed “Gene Cernan” after the NASA astronaut who wore a 321-powered Speedmaster during the Apollo 17 mission. Importantly, Omega also based this special model on scans of Cernan’s watch, which is on display at the brand’s museum in Biel.
After more than a week away, Lex is happy to be back at Fratello HQ. However, he can’t get enough of the watch he had with him during this time in Switzerland. You’ve seen it already, but it’s the Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow (ref. 3594.50.00) from the late ’90s. A handsome Speedy, it has a distinctive look thanks to the steel bezel, applied logo, and big Broad Arrow hands. Lex has opted to wear his on a “Serica Sport” rubber strap in sage green.
Finally, Nacho is also wearing the watch that accompanied him to Geneva, his Tudor Pelagos FXD. Though this one is the black version, he has paired it with an NDC single-pass strap made from the genuine parachute elastic used by the Marine Nationale.
