Fratello Talks: How To Buy A Vintage Watch
Have you ever wanted to buy a vintage watch but been put off by potential pitfalls? Well, this episode of Fratello Talks is the one for you. Today, Nacho, RJ, and Thomas share their advice on buying vintage watches. They’ve been doing it themselves for years. In Thomas’s case, there’s even a history of working as a dealer for Amsterdam Watch Co. On today’s show, they combine their expertise and distill some advice that everyone taking their first steps toward vintage timepieces should hear. So be sure to tune in whether you’re teetering on the edge of your first vintage purchase or a connoisseur in the field. And if you’re one of the latter, we’d love for you to chime in with your words of advice in the comments section below. But right now, it’s time for a wrist check!
Wrist check
We start with Thomas, who is up to his old tricks again with the VPC Type 37HW back on his wrist. It’s exciting times for the brand as rumor has it that Thomas is in the process of designing a successor to the debut model!
After a bit of a hiatus, RJ has taken his Omega Constellation Globemaster in Sedna Gold out for a spin today. He has had this watch for eight years now, so the rose tone of the Sedna Gold has faded somewhat, leaving less of a pink hue. The watch is a great example of Omega’s ability to take design elements from the 1950s and give them a modern spin.
And Nacho has opted for a vintage watch to suit the topic. His choice for today is his 1961 Omega Seamaster ref. 14762. This is one of many vintage watches in Nacho’s arsenal. After all, he cut his teeth (horologically) on affordable vintage pieces, so he’s no stranger to the topic.
