Fratello Talks: The Watches We’re Planning To Buy In 2023 — From Breguet, Omega, Breitling, And More
Lex, Nacho, and RJ discuss their watch resolutions for the new year. We look back at the watches we purchased in 2022 and discuss what we have on our wishlists for 2023. This week, Nacho already made his first purchase of 2023 to celebrate his upcoming 30th birthday. As a bonus, we also have a small contribution from Sinara.
Wrist check
Today marks the first Fratello Talks episode of 2023. This is a podcast recorded at the Fratello headquarters and released every Thursday. In addition, there’s the Fratello On Air podcast hosted by Mike Stockton and Balazs Ferenczi with new episodes (almost) every Tuesday. You can find an overview of all podcast episodes here. If you’re using Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or another platform, search for Fratello.
In this episode, Lex was wearing his “Fratelloris” — a bronze Big Crown Pointer Date with an oxblood dial and the first collab we did with Oris back in 2020. You can read more about that watch here. Nacho is wearing his Citizen Promaster GP2000-08A on a Zulu strap (note: he mentions the wrong reference during the recording, but we corrected it here). RJ is wearing his Omega Speedmaster Calibre 321 “Ed White” from 2020. Sinara, who was recording a video for social media, very briefly joins the podcast and mentions that she’s wearing her Omega Speedmaster Professional. She did an article on her Speedmaster purchase here, resulting in over 150 comments.
Our watch resolutions for 2023!
In his article, Lex explained that he set a budget for himself for 2023. Within this budget, his choices include the Breitling Montbrillant Spatiographe and a Ferrari chronograph from Girard-Perregaux. Nacho already ordered his first watch of 2023 and is hoping it will arrive early next week in time for his 30th birthday. He ordered an Omega Seamaster 300M “Schwerty” ref. 2254.50. He had been eyeing the 300M for a long time and finally pulled the trigger.
RJ hopes to be less sidetracked by watches that come out during the year and aims for a gold Breguet Tradition. That said, if a nice Speedmaster comes out in 2023 that fits his collection, he will go after it. RJ mentions in the podcast that other watches from his collection might need to be sacrificed for this. But what about your horological wishes for 2023? Do you already have something in mind, or will you wait for Watches and Wonders 2023, Geneva Watch Days, and year-round releases to see what comes out? Let us know in the comments.
