Fratello Talks: Watch-World Predictions For 2025
Welcome all to a new year and a new season of Fratello Talks, your favorite watch podcast in the whole wide world. What should we expect from the world of watches in 2025? Nacho, RJ, and Lex share their predictions on today’s show. Some of these are wishful thinking, but others are educated guesses based on anniversaries, notable dates, and insider secrets we swore blood oaths not to break. Okay, maybe nothing that secret will be revealed. But it’s still worth tuning in because some of these predictions may just end up coming true (or be hilariously wrong). Being aware of some of the anniversaries taking place, which may be celebrated with corresponding releases, will certainly give us an idea of what to expect. But before we jump into it, let’s see what’s on the guys’ wrists this week.
Wrist check
Lex is off to a familiar start to the new year, with his trusty Timor on a Bund strap festively fastened to his wrist. It’s a lot of leather, but thanks to the watch’s smaller dimensions, it still wears well. This bright-dialed field watch has become a go-to for Lex, echoing the sunny days of summer and bringing light to the dark ones this time of year. With its timeless design, you really can’t go wrong.
The retro vibes continue on RJ’s wrist, which is populated by the latest iteration of the steel Breguet Type XX. He spent a couple of weeks with the watch in December to gather some thoughts. You can read those in his comprehensive hands-on review of the watch here. It wasn’t one he was always super keen on, but it managed to charm him in the end.
Nacho is off to an uncomplicated start to 2025, rocking his Speedmaster (3570.50.00) on a black NATO strap. He was inspired by the look of a certain space-flown Speedy that went up for sale in late November. Though his Speedmaster has not been to space, it was once briefly worn by Jean-François Clervoy, an ESA astronaut and veteran of three NASA Space Shuttle missions. It’s not quite the same claim to fame, but it’s still not a bad story to be able to share.

It’ll still be a few months until we’ll walk the beige-carpeted halls of Palexpo during Watches and Wonders 2025. And though LVMH Watch Week is (relatively speaking) just around the corner, for now, all we can do is speculate. So speculate we shall! In today’s episode, we share some of our watch-world predictions for 2025. Whether it’s anniversaries, hunches, wishful thinking, or wild stabs in the dark, this podcast has a bit of everything. Whether or not they become a reality will remain to be seen.
