Introducing The Five New Frederique Constant Geneva Watch Days Releases

Recently, Frederique Constant has put a lot of effort into its sporty Highlife collection. However, if you prefer the brand’s more “traditional” work, today’s releases are for you. The brand brings two new men’s watches and three ladies’ models to this year’s Geneva Watch Days. There is some gold, some steel, some diamonds, and a whole lot of Roman numerals.

In short, these releases are very much in line with the classical image of Frederique Constant. Let’s have a look at these five new additions to the brand’s collection.

Frederique Constant Geneva Watch Days Release — Classics Heart Beat Manufacture

For the gentlemen among you, we have two new Manufacture references here. Both measure 39mmwide and just over 10mm thick. The case material is the only technical difference between the two new additions. The FC-930EM3H6 is stainless steel while the FC-930EM3H9 is 18K rose gold. The steel model is limited to 930 pieces. The gold one is limited to 93 units.

Powering the Classic Heart Beat Manufacture is an in-house FC-930-3 caliber. You can admire the movement either through the sapphire case back or the large aperture in the dial. Frederique Constant has a reputation for displaying its balance wheels through such “Heart Beat” apertures. It makes perfect sense, then, to do so here. The previous comma-shaped aperture is now perfectly round.

We also have a new overall dial design here. The outer perimeter is white lacquered and houses stylized painted Roman numerals while the center displays a sunburst texture. A set of black-lacquered hands completes the classical look.

First impressions of the Classics Heart Beat Manufacture

These two new models are distinctly traditional in appearance. That makes them easy to like. Compared to the regular Classic Manufacture, these look a bit more original and refined. The new Roman numerals and dial layout feel more authentic to Frederique Constant, and that is a great thing.

I think the 39mm size will be a crowd-pleaser for the brand as well. It is more in line with the general vibe of the watch than the 42mm of the otherwise similar FC-710MC4H6. Combined with a modest thickness, I am confident this design will speak to a lot of potential buyers.

Frederique Constant Geneva Watch Days Release — Classics Art Déco Carrée

Onto the ladies’ watches. Frederique Constant model names typically include a case shape. There has been a Carrée, or rectangular model, in the women’s lineup for a long time already. This time, though, the name includes “Art Déco”. This indicates the use of single central lugs at twelve and six for attaching the bracelet or strap. There were already round and oval case shapes with such “Art Déco” designs, and now there is a rectangular version as well.

The new collection consists of three variants, all in stainless steel, powered by the quartz caliber FC-200. This two-hand time-only movement offers a healthy six years of battery life for a worry-free experience. The case measures 28 × 20.7 × 6.98mm and is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the top and a closed case back. All three feature the same intricate dials. They have a white mother-of-pearl surround with black printed Roman numerals. The center is silver-colored guilloché.

There is one version with a polished bezel and steel bracelet. A second model is fitted with 18 pavé-set diamonds on the lugs. This version is paired with a blue croc-pattern calf strap. Lastly, we have a version with 82 diamonds set in the bezel and lugs. This one comes on a black croc-pattern calf strap. All three versions also feature a blue cabochon in the crown.

First impressions of the Art Déco Carrée

Once you pair a rectangular case with Roman numerals, a guilloché dial center, and a blue cabochon crown, I have to say, my eyebrows go up a bit. You are creeping perilously close to a very, very iconic watch design by a brand not to be mentioned here. I understand that it is hard to be both classical and original. Luckily, there are some strong design elements setting these apart.

I am hinting at the “Art Déco” lug design, onion crown, and coin-edge case flanks. These elements serve to make these watches a little more intricate than the watch I am trying not to mention. It provides these FCs with a clear identity of their own, which I can only applaud.

My pick would be the bracelet variant. I think it is the cleanest, most elegant version of the three. As an added bonus, it will spare you being obligated to buy OEM or custom replacement straps, the clear downside of creative strap-attachment designs. To me, this is the best of the Frederique Constant Geneva Watch Days ladies’ releases.

Pricing and availability of the Frederique Constant Geneva Watch Days releases

The Classic Heart Beat Manufacture in 18K gold (ref. FC-930EM3H9) comes in at €15,995. It is limited to 93 pieces. The steel version (ref. FC-930EM3H6) is priced at €3,695 and limited to 930 pieces.

The Classic Art Déco Carrée on the steel bracelet (ref. FC-200MPW2AC6B) comes in at €850. The version with 18 diamonds (ref. FC-200MPW2AC2D6) is €1,150. Lastly, the full diamond-set version (ref. FC-200MPW2ACD6) comes in at €2,350. All three are non-limited, regular-production models.
