Glashütte Original launches A Limited Edition PanoMatic Luna Watch
Glashütte Original has released a Limited Edition PanoMatic Luna. It’s a thoughtful and beautifully designed watch. Whether you feel the romantic vibes of February or not, the German brand is doing its best to tug on your heartstrings.
The new Glashütte Original PanoMatic Luna incorporates the GO DNA in an extremely feminine model. Inspired by symbols and colors of love, the round watch has a seductive appeal with a sparkling touch. A highly-polished stainless steel case is topped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Also, the bezel, set with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds, gives an extravagant touch to the 39.4mm case.
A softened case that exudes femininity from edge-to-edge.
It seems that the case is quite large but taking into consideration all the features which need to be fitted onto the dial the decision to make a bigger case is certainly understandable. For example, the moon phase complication needs space to breathe. However, women with petite wrists might be concerned about the dimension of the watch and would do well to try it on in person before committing to purchase.
Undoubtedly, Glashütte Original is out to prove that when it comes to details, there is no better brand. The diamond-set crown speaks of that intent. Consequently, the case exudes femininity from edge-to-edge. The watch is finished with a purple alligator leather strap that matches the colors of the off-set Arabic numerals placed on the dial.
A Moonphase Watch
For those who love mother-of-pearl dials, the iridescent glow of the Glashütte Original PanoMatic Luna’s pearly dial will catch and keep your eye immediately. This PanoMatic Luna has diamond-set indexes surrounded by lilac, asymmetrical Arabic numerals in different sizes. On the lefthand side of the dial, we find the hours and minutes displayed via a dedicated sub-dial. Meanwhile, the going seconds hand occupies its own dial at 6 o’clock.
The execution of the moonphase indicator is elegant and delicate.
The reflective surfaces of the white gold hands and the oval date window help to break-up the vast amount of dial decoration we have going on here. As busy as the dial is (in its own, pastel way) I love each individual element in isolation. My favorite? Without a doubt, the moonphase. I have to say the execution of the moonphase indicator is elegant and delicate. Additionally, the silver-colored moons are polished with a diamond milling tool to give an extra sparkle to this feature.
The Movement
Inside we find Glashütte’s automatic Caliber 90-12. This movement is 32.6mm wide and is visible through a sapphire crystal case back. It boasts 47 jewels, a rate of 4 Hz, and 42 hours of power reserve. The 90-12 offers hours, minutes, small seconds, a hacking function, the Panorama Date, and the moon phase. The movement finishing is beautiful. The highlight? An eccentric skeletonized oscillating mass. Also, Glashütte Original claims the PanoMatic Luna is water-resistant to 30 meters.
The expression of love?
Unsurprisingly, the PanoMatic Luna is the downsized version of a men’s watch. Furthermore, this masculine/feminine iteration might leave mixed feelings especially when we look at the color scheme the German brand opts for on this occasion.
The design is somewhat clichéd. Although, it is a beautiful effort that will no doubt make its 25 prospective owners very happy. Nourishing femininity by emphasizing endless symbols of romanticism alongside genuine artisanal elements is a great way to attract more women. The retail price for this extremely limited edition is €17,700. For more information please visit the Glashütte Original website.
