Hot Take: The WRK Timepieces ACF-02 Refines a Winning Formula
In the world of independent watchmaking, few brands make an impression right out of the gate. WRK Timepieces, however, did just that with its debut ACF-01 last year. Now, with the release of the ACF-02, the brand refines its design language while maintaining the bold, lightweight approach that made its first model stand out.
WRK Timepieces is the brainchild of Nasko and Caroline, a husband/wife duo whose passion for horology is evident in every conversation. I met them last year during Watches and Wonders and had the chance to try the ACF-01. The titanium case, bead-blasted finish, and striking orange hook-and-loop strap all left a strong impression. The movement, developed in partnership with Le Cercle des Horlogers SA, was beautifully executed and a true testament to the level of craftsmanship WRK was aiming for.

Yours truly with the ACF-01 on the wrist during Watches and Wonders 2024. Eagle-eyed readers may recognize the Beau-Rivage’s signature sepia-toned decor.
The new-for-2025 ACF-02 builds on that foundation, introducing subtle refinements in both design and mechanics. It’s also significantly more affordable than its predecessor, making it an easier-to-digest entry point for those looking to experience what WRK is all about.
WRK Timepieces ACF-02: Thoughtful refinements
At first glance, the ACF-02 shares a lot of DNA with the ACF-01. The lightweight, pebble-like titanium case returns but with slightly softer, more contoured lines that make it even more comfortable on the wrist. The blasted finish gives it a matte, industrial look that feels modern without being over the top. The case, measuring 38mm wide, 41mm long, and just 8.5mm thick, ensures a refined and wearable profile that adapts well to different wrist sizes. I’ve not yet had the pleasure of seeing the ACF-02 in real life, but I can already envisage a snug fit, especially given the slimness.
Regarding finishes, WRK offers the ACF-02 in three different variants — titanium in its natural bead-blasted finish, a silver DLC-coated version for added contrast, and a stealthy black DLC-coated model for those who prefer a darker aesthetic. Each retains the same smooth, screw-free case design that gives the watch its sleek, pebble-like feel.
WRK has also expanded strap options for the ACF-02, offering a mix of technical fabric and suede choices. That said, I’d still go for the orange hook-and-loop strap as it just feels right against the blasted titanium case. See above, and tell me differently — I dare you!
An impressive movement and mechanics
Powering the ACF-02 is the AMB-01/1 caliber developed in collaboration with Telos SA. Telos is no stranger to high-end watchmaking, but it’s perhaps not the most famous of movement partners. I put the company in the “if you know, you know” category, but Telos has worked with brands like ArtyA, Rebellion, and Montblanc in the past. The ACF-02’s movement is built with efficiency and precision in mind, featuring a bidirectional micro-rotor for automatic winding while keeping the watch’s profile slim.
A key technical upgrade in the ACF-02 is its double-barrel system. This setup evens out the power delivery, helping maintain better accuracy over time. It also extends the power reserve to a guaranteed 72 hours but with total potential energy reaching 80–84 hours. The movement runs at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) frequency, ensuring smooth operation while offering reliability for daily wear. Crafted from Grade 5 titanium with a bead-blasted finish, the baseplate and bridges add another level of technical refinement to an already impressive package.
A more accessible price point
One of the most notable changes with the ACF-02 is its price. While the ACF-01 was an impressive debut, its cost placed it in a more niche segment. The ACF-02, on the other hand, is priced at CHF 18,924 (ex. taxes), making it easier for enthusiasts to get their hands on a WRK timepiece. It’s a smart move to lower the barrier to entry without compromising the technical or design elements that made the brand stand out in the first place.
Adding to its exclusivity, the ACF-02 is available as a limited souscription series, with only 12 pieces per configuration. For those who like things a bit more unique, WRK also offers a bespoke personalization program, allowing buyers to tailor materials and color finishes to their preferences. Let’s be honest: the ACF-02 is still by no means “cheap,” but if you’re playing at this price point, it’s an attractive proposition.
Final thoughts on the WRK Timepieces ACF-02
With the ACF-02, WRK Timepieces isn’t reinventing itself. Rather, it’s refining what already worked. The case is sleeker, the movement is more robust, and with a more approachable price point, you’ve got a watch that feels like a logical evolution for the brand.
For those who were intrigued by the ACF-01 but found the price a little steep, the ACF-02 makes for a strong entry into WRK’s world. And for those who already appreciated what the brand was doing? It’s just another reason to keep an eye out for what comes next. Find out more at WRK Timepiece’s official website.
