IFL Watches Introduces The Bulova Super Seville Mural Inspired by New York’s Iconic Street Art
The team at IFL Watches loves urban art. Quite a few of the brand’s hand-decorated dials are inspired by the colorful art that has graced New York City’s buildings, bridges, and metro trains through the decades. The iconic street art found its roots in NYC in the early 1970s and, from there, spread all over the world. So it makes sense that IFLW has picked the ’70s-inspired Bulova Super Seville as the canvas for its latest creation. The new Bulova Super Seville Mural pays tribute to New York’s iconic street art with a colorful dial. Let’s find out more about this latest 300-piece limited edition from IFLW.
If you have paid attention to IFLW’s releases, you will know that this is not its first graffiti-style dial. Last November, the brand unveiled the collaborative Maen × IFL Watches Manhattan Graffiti. The timepiece gained much traction during the Windup Watch Fair, where it was unveiled to a select audience. That got the ball rolling, and the watch became a huge hit. Whereas that limited edition paid tribute to New York City’s famous boroughs, the new Bulova Super Seville Mural celebrates the famous street art found in them. The watch pays tribute to some of the iconic works that graced different objects throughout the city. That makes this new limited edition timepiece a colorful urban safari that puts a smile on its wearer’s face.
The details of IFLW’s Bulova Super Seville Mural
Let’s first discuss the canvas for the unique dial. As mentioned, the Bulova Super Seville is a ’70s-inspired timepiece. It features a 37.5mm TV-style case with a fluted bezel. The integrated bracelet ensures that the watch looks elegant and relevant despite its retro looks. For this special edition, the team at IFLW used the blue-dial version of the Super Seville. It serves as the perfect canvas to start creating the unique dials. As you can see, each dial maintains its blue minute track with the Roman numerals and markers. First off, this is practical when setting the time, but it also frames the dial nicely, as if it were a piece of art to put on your wall.
The dial features applied hour markers and a date window at 3 o’clock with a magnifier above it on the sapphire crystal. Lastly, the baton-style indexes and hour and minute hands feature small luminous sections, providing at least some low-light legibility. The Bulova NM10 Precisionist caliber powers the watches. This quartz movement operates at a 262kHz frequency and is accurate to within a few seconds per year. Additionally, the caliber can withstand extreme temperature changes, and the seconds hand glides super smoothly over the dial.

With the unique hand-painted dials, the artists at IFLW created a nice storyteller depicting the typical graffiti style. It’s a combination of symbols, characters, and bright colors that you can find all through New York City. The playful art style contrasts nicely with the traditional style of the watch. In particular, the retro style of the minute track on the rehaut emphasizes that clash in styles. But that is a theme that characterizes the overall creation — the raw street style of the dial versus the refined and classic feel of the watch.
If we zoom in on the dial, you will see that the different elements all tell a little story, from the prominent subway train and the NYC cop character to the lightning bolt between 1 and 2 and the smiley face right under the 9 o’clock marker. As a result, there is a lot to discover on this new dial. Because all the dials are painted by hand, each is unique, making it a personal statement of the free-spiritedness and adventurous soul that New York City embodies.
Final thoughts on the IFLW × Bulova Super Seville Mural
This new Bulova Super Seville mural is another IFL Watches release that will undoubtedly find its way to 300 happy owners quickly. As a result of seeing this new watch, I immediately rewatched a Dutch documentary on graffiti art called Kroonjuwelen (or Crown Jewels in English). It tells the story of the Dutch graffiti scene that started in the late 1970s and was heavily inspired by the famous artists from New York, who are also featured in the film. I was lucky enough to work on the promotion of this 2006 documentary in a previous professional life at MTV. It was an exciting adventure with great memories.
As you probably understand, this new IFL Watches creation has hit a special note for me. Additionally, it is the second time that the Bulova Super Seville has stood out for me as a great watch for creative dials. The first time was when Bulova worked with Complecto on a series of special stone dials of the Super Seville. This new Super Seville Mural shows once more that the watch is a great platform for creativity and color, so kudos to the team for this edition.
