To me, among all the big brands out there, Oris really sticks out. Ever since I bought my first luxury watch, the dressy Oris Art Blakey, I’ve found it charming how the brand makes everyone smile. The new Divers Sixty-Five LFP Limited Edition, a watch made in collaboration with the French Professional Football League (LFP), should do just that. It also raises awareness of CNAPE, a federation that unites France’s children’s charities, and its joyful annual children’s football tournament.

That tournament is called Tournoi des Défenseurs de l’Enfance (Tournament of Defenders of Childhood). The LFP and its partner CNAPE organize it to raise funds for France’s children’s charities. But it’s also an unforgettable experience for the vulnerable kids who participate. By competing and meeting their idols, they can forget about the often difficult situations they live in for a moment and simply enjoy the experience. Indeed, it is a noble cause. Now, let’s take a look at the Oris Divers Sixty-Five LFP Limited Edition.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five LFP Limited Edition

Oris used its 38mm stainless steel Divers Sixty-Five as the canvas for the LFP Limited Edition. That means it’s 12.8mm thick, including its highly domed sapphire crystal. The lugs span 45.7mm from tip to tip and have a brushed finish on top, while the sides of the case show a high-polished finish. This combination matches nicely with the alternating finishes on the relief-engraved unidirectional bezel. The full-steel look is a very clean-looking one. That’s important because it doesn’t take your attention away from the star of the show, which is the playful dial.

For that dial, the Oris took inspiration from the LFP’s navy corporate color and Les Défenseurs de l’Enfance’s bright logo. The deep blue shade serves as the main dial color, while the rainbow hues make up the water resistant” text. To enhance its playful character and as a reference to the kids who the involved organizations support, all the text on the dial is printed in a childlike script.

The applied hour markers and typical Oris hands feature a Super-LumiNova filling for readability in darker situations. Furthermore, in regular light, they provide a highly legible contrast with the glossy navy dial.

Sellita inside

Powering the Oris Divers Sixty-Five LFP Limited Edition is the Oris 733 movement. Basically, it is a Sellita SW200-1 with a red Oris rotor. With a 41-hour power reserve, it offers less autonomy than the brand’s Calibre 400 series. However, practically any watchmaker can service this Sellita movement, and it has a proven track record of reliability. It runs at a 28,800vph frequency and features 26 jewels. The watch’s owner can operate it with the screw-down crown on the right side of the case.

This screw-down crown helps to keep the Oris Divers Sixty-Five LFP Limited Edition water resistant to 100 meters. As with many of Oris’s limited editions, the case back is all metal. That’s because it’s reserved for a special engraving. In this case, that engraving is of the playful logo of Les Défenseurs de l’Enfance. Underneath that, the case back also shows each watch’s LE number out of 1,000 pieces.

The Oyster-style bracelet features real rivets and a push-button-operated clasp. However, it doesn’t feature quick-release spring bars or an on-the-go micro-adjustment option.

More than just the official LFP timekeeper

I wasn’t aware of this, but Oris is the official timekeeper for the French LFP (both League 1 and League 2). What I like about this Divers Sixty-Five limited edition is how the brand went a little further than just putting its name on clocks and billboards. This watch certainly shows Oris’s dedication to the LFP. More importantly, though, it raises awareness about the children’s charities that support more than 400,000 vulnerable kids all over France.

The playful printing is a great wink to all those kids and a nice reminder to the wearer. I like how subtle it is. It’s not an in-your-face limited edition that you can only wear on special occasions. Rather, this is one you can wear daily and that will put a smile on many people’s faces.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five LFP Limited Edition is for sale now for €2,500. As mentioned, it is limited to 1,000 pieces. For more information, visit the official Oris website.
