Introducing: The Arcanaut Arc II D’Arc Matter In Four Colors
Don’t you love it when watch brands dare to veer off the beaten tracks? We have plenty of middle-of-the-road watches, so something unique is always welcome. Well, we have something like that today. Meet the Arcanaut Arc II D’Arc Matter with a slate composite dial and lume in four color choices.
And these aren’t just unique-looking pieces. They will also be rare. Only 25 of each color will be available in 2023. However, small future batches are to be added. So if you want one, act decisively.
Arcanaut Arc II D’Arc Matter
What we have here is the familiar Arcanaut case, CNC machined in Copenhagen. It measures 40.52mm across and has a very distinct shape. The lugs, for instance, are executed in negative, making for a neat integration of the rubber strap. Additionally, the water resistance is rated at a healthy 100 meters.
Even a regular crown was considered too pedestrian for Arcanaut, so this watch features what the brand calls a “Pentablock” crown. The resulting case looks interestingly alien. It always reminds me of the late ’90s somehow. I can clearly envision an Arcanaut wearer driving a silver Ford Cougar. The two just work together.
Inside ticks a Soprod A10 caliber. It features a 42-hour power reserve and ticks away at 28,800 beats per hour. While the caliber is Swiss, the rest of the watch is produced in Scandinavia.
The Arcanaut Arc II D’Arc Matter dial
This new release features equally interesting dials. They are made of a Scandinavian slate composite. The slate is ground using an industrial coffee grinder and then mixed with a clear binding agent. The resulting surface looks a bit like forged carbon but — as you would expect from Arcanaut — with a character of its own.
The dials are left nice and open, with a black logo and minute markers drawing minimal attention. Additionally, an outer ring in 12 sections is executed in colored lume. The “Grand Paw” handset, as Arcanaut calls it, features lumed tips in the same color.
You can have your pick of Badger Blue, Pongo Orange, Hornet Yellow, and Gamma Green.
Pricing and availability
The Arcanaut Arc II D’Arc Matter is priced at €4,349.95 (including VAT) / US$3,950 (excluding taxes). The presale period commences on September 23rd at 7:00 PM CEST, and customers will have to pay a 50% deposit upon pre-ordering. Of the total of 25 pieces in each color, 15 will be made available for pre-order. Importantly, you have to be registered for one of the models to pre-order early. The remaining watches will go on sale on September 30th at 7:00 PM CEST.
Customers who pre-order will receive a package of Arcanaut goodies, including an additional strap, a T-shirt, a cap, and a UV flashlight. Additionally, the first ten customers will also receive a lumed .925 sterling silver signet ring. Lastly, a single 18K gold ring will be raffled among all customers. Admittedly, that is quite a lot to take in, so let me summarize the important stuff for clarity’s sake. If you want one, register your interest on the Arcanaut website, and complete the order upon receiving instructions.
