Introducing: The Breguet Classique Souscription In Platinum
In 2025, Breguet entered the GPHG with its first 250th-anniversary model, the Classique Souscription in Breguet gold, a rose gold alloy. The watch won the “Aiguille d’Or” grand prize, and now, Breguet introduces another version in platinum.
A platinum Breguet Classique Souscription
This year, one day before the new GPHG finale takes place in Geneva, Breguet celebrates the 2025 victory with a Classique Souscription in 950 platinum. It is essentially the same watch as last year, including a white grand feu enamel dial similar to the 2025 version. However, the Breguet signature, Arabic numerals, and minute track are executed in blue petit feu enamel rather than black.
The rest is the same, including the beautiful hand-wound Breguet VS00 movement. Crafted in gilded brass in the same shade as Breguet gold, it features a finely shot-blasted finish on the plate and bridges.
Nearly identical specs
You can read this article on all the ins and outs of the Breguet Classique Souscription 2025. Unsurprisingly, the two versions have different prices. The new Classique Souscription 2026PT retails for €68,000 / CHF 58,000 (including taxes). The 2025 anniversary model in 18K Breguet gold now costs €57,000 / CHF 48,200 (it was €53,800 / CHF 45,000 at its introduction).
Some thoughts on the new Classique Souscription 2026PT
I believe the Breguet Classique Souscription 2025 did not win the GPHG on its merits alone. People also voted for it because they want to see Breguet succeed. In his relatively short tenure as CEO, Gregory Kissling has already earned this classic haute horlogerie brand greater attention than before.
With this new Classique Souscription, nothing much has changed from the original. But surely, some people don’t want to wear a yellow/rose gold watch; they prefer a white precious metal. Since 2015, platinum has been (much) cheaper than white gold. However, the production process, due to platinum’s toughness, makes watches and jewelry more expensive.
Platinum also looks different from white gold. While white gold is simply “whiter,” platinum is closer to steel in its color and sheen. However, platinum has a noticeably richer “depth” to its luster and is significantly heavier than steel. In the end, this new Classique Souscription is for those who don’t like or don’t want to wear rose or yellow gold.
What’s next?
I am more curious about what we will see next. It would be great to see Breguet use yellow gold again. Not only do I prefer it, but I’ve also heard from many retailers and collectors who feel the same way. Breguet has not disappointed with its new Classique Tourbillon models, but a carefully modernized, shorter-lugged Classique two- or three-hander in a smaller case would be very well received.
