Introducing: The Brellum Pandial Bicompax Black DLC Ti Chronometer
Brellum is back with another limited-edition watch, the Pandial Bicompax Black DLC Ti Chronometer. As we’ll see, it has a familiar case shape with a new case color. Also, it’s the second piece from the brand to use a chronometer-certified La Joux-Perret movement.
Brellum focuses on small runs. Therefore, the releases come frequently. The latest model reminds us of a piece from this past summer. The Pandial Marina Bicompax Titanium Chronometer also used a titanium case and a blue dial, but the execution was lighter in color overall. Today’s focus is on a darker, sportier watch that wears its black coating well.
The Brellum Pandial Bicompax Black DLC Ti Chronometer
The Pandial Bicompax Black DLC Ti Chronometer uses the company’s 43.5mm case. For this execution, Brellum has chosen to coat the Grade 5 titanium case with black DLC. An external bezel with a black aluminum tachymeter insert matches the pump pushers and a large signed crown. Domed crystals seal both sides and help the watch achieve a 100m depth rating.
Regarding the case design, the watch has chamfered lugs that slope down toward the wrist. The latter detail is helpful considering the 51.5mm lug-to-lug measurement. Overall, the finish is matte aside from the underside of the bezel and the sides of the pushers. This translates to a more expensive look to the watch that mimics ceramic.
Like the previously reviewed Pandial Marina, this watch is light at just 72 grams without the strap. Brellum even lists the weight of the titanium push-button deployant clasp at 8 grams! Regarding the strap, a black technical fabric piece integrates within the lugs.
A dark blue dial with black sub-dials
The Pandial Bicompax features a multi-hued dark blue dial. It’s an alternating pattern of a dark telemeter scale, a lighter area with the applied luminous indexes, and a darker center. The polished metal indexes and hands, in addition to the Super-LumiNova, have a subtle black stripe that matches the case. Then, raised and concentrically grained black sub-dials are placed at 9 and 3 o’clock. These show running seconds and a 30-minute register, respectively. Finally, a white-on-black date wheel sits within a polished metal frame at the bottom of the dial.
The Brellum BR-111 inside
Brellum’s BR-111 is a chronometer-rated La Joux-Perret L100 automatic movement. The brand has equipped it with Geneva stripes, blued screws, and perlage. A black-coated rotor adorned with the individual LE number tops it off. Regarding the specifications, the BR-111 has a column wheel, 28 jewels, and a power reserve of 60 hours.
Handsome on the wrist
The Pandial Bicompax isn’t a small watch. Plus, the BR-111 and two domed crystals give it a not-insignificant 15.9mm thickness. Still, the case design and curved-end strap make for a tidy fit on a medium-to-large wrist. Also, the black case and darker dial make the watch look smaller than its size would suggest.
Limited in nature
Like all Brellum watches, the Pandial Bicompax is limited. Just 46 numbered pieces of this model will be produced and sold exclusively on the Brellum website. At CHF 3,290, the price is in line with other models from the brand. As I usually mention, Brellum stands out because the owner is easily reachable and the watches offer nice touches, such as a chronometer rating and great finishing.
