Introducing: The Maen Manhattan 40 With Dials In Blue, Copper Salmon, And Jade
Since 2017, Maen has released numerous high-quality watches that blend retro touches with modern style. Now the brand is back with the new Manhattan 40, an upsized take on the popular 37mm model. Per the company’s normal course, versions with and without a date are available for order. There’s also a special stone-dial option for a limited period.
Indeed, when we visited Maen at the WatchPro Salon in London, the watches were impressive. Highly finished cases, thin but strong bracelets, and lovely dimensions were the highlights for us. I was taken with the Lunar Classic 36, a watch that fits my smaller wrist perfectly. Still, the squarish Manhattan ranks as one of the brand’s most popular models. Heck, even a friend from California messaged me asking me about it. His wrist is larger than mine, so perhaps today’s Manhattan 40 will be the answer.
The Maen Manhattan 40
The Maen Manhattan 40 is a 40mm by 49.3mm stainless steel watch measuring just 9.6mm thick. It features a flush-mounted sapphire crystal with an antireflective coating and a screw-in case back similar to that of a Rolex but with a sapphire display. For a non-round watch, the Maen is robust with its 100m depth rating. The regular editions come with midnight blue or coppery salmon dials featuring vertical Côtes de Genève. These pieces are available with or without a date function. A special jade-dial version is available during the pre-order period and comes exclusively without a date. All models come with a fantastic integrated bracelet that tapers from 24mm wide at the case to 17mm at the butterfly clasp.
The Sellita SW200 keeps it thin
Maen has equipped the Manhattan 40 with the automatic Sellita SW200. This movement is just 4.6mm thick, contributing to the slim profile. It has a frequency of 28,800vph and 38 hours of power reserve.
A closer look at the jade Manhattan 40
The jade model strays from the Côtes de Genève look on the serial-production editions. Each dark green stone dial has unique features due to the natural striations within the stone. Lately, the number of watches with stone dials is rising, but this is the first new jade piece I can recall. The result is attractive and should sell well, especially to Asian customers who treasure the stone.
Affordability remains
The Manhattan 40 models will be available to pre-order on December 27th at 13:00 CET via Maen’s official website. Deliveries will begin in July 2025. The jade model lists for €999.20 with the option for a top-grade Sellita at €1,374.40. The serial-production models have a pre-order price of just €679.20 and a regular price of €759.20. The top-grade Sellita pushes the price up to €1,054.40.
These latest Maen releases will be a hit for those waiting for a larger-sized case. Plus, with the addition of a limited jade model, there’s an offering that differs from the competition. Let us know your thoughts about these releases and if this size works better for your wrist.
