Introducing: The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M In Bronze Gold And Burgundy
By now, we are used to catching glimpses of future Omega Seamaster Diver 300M releases on Daniel Craig’s wrist. Despite his retirement as 007, Craig is the Biel-based brand’s go-to ambassador for new Seamaster variants. And with great success, we might add. The online watch universe goes wild whenever the British actor straps a yet-to-be-released Seamaster on his wrist. During the Governors Awards in Los Angeles last November, watch fans spotted a colorful gold version on Craig’s wrist. It sparked an online frenzy of photoshopped potential models. With the release of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in Bronze Gold and burgundy, we now know what Craig was wearing. It’s time to find out more about this new Seamaster.
In all honesty, some of the potential new Seamaster models that fans mocked up after spotting the watch on Daniel Craig’s wrist were not far off. But the question is whether people could have guessed the final details. We’ll get into the specifics in a minute, but let’s remind ourselves of the recent Seamaster introductions. As most of you will know, Omega has been pumping out a string of new models inspired by the Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition. The main features taken from the No Time To Die Bond watch are a dateless dial, the mesh bracelet, the oxalic anodized aluminum bezel insert and dial, and the domed sapphire crystal. Another defining element is the small-wave pattern, which is the first time we saw a return on the James Bond 60th Anniversary model.
The details of the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M in Bronze Gold and burgundy
As I explained in my review of the recent black-dial model in stainless steel, the 60th-anniversary Bond edition is a great watch. Unfortunately, the case back is a deal breaker for me. But with the black version, the brand created one of my favorite current Seamaster models. Bringing back the small-wave dial, losing the date, and fitting the mesh bracelet are all wins in my book. So, how does this new watch relate to that model? The answer is easy. This new Bronze Gold and burgundy model is simply a variation of that watch executed in different materials and colors. However, it forgoes the small-wave dial in favor of a simpler one.
First, the watch features the familiar case, but it is executed in Omega’s proprietary Bronze Gold. As Robert-Jan explained in his review of the Bronze Gold Seamaster 300, this special alloy consists of copper, gold, silver, gallium, and palladium. There is 37.5% gold in the alloy, which is hallmarked as 9K. On top of that, the palladium ensures that the material’s color remains bright and will reduce the patina effect. The hue is between Moonshine (yellow) and Sedna (rose) Gold. Bronze Gold has a nice warmth to it that makes it quite visually attractive.
A set of familiar specs for the Seamaster Diver 300M
The fully brushed case has a 42mm diameter, a 13.8mm thickness, a 49.7mm lug-to-lug, and a 300m depth rating. It also features a Bronze Gold bezel with a burgundy anodized aluminum insert. The insert features the usual 60-minute diving scale executed in “vintage” Super-LumiNova that lights up blue. The lume dot at the 60-minute mark also features beige Super-LumiNova, but it lights up green in the dark.
You will find the usual helium escape valve on the left side of the case. Additionally, the right side features a brushed crown embossed with the Omega logo. Inside the case, we find a sandblasted black aluminum dial that, as mentioned, does without the wave pattern. Still, it looks good with its brushed, blackened, and applied indexes, which also feature “vintage” Super-LumiNova. Lastly, the signature handset is executed in Bronze Gold PVD and filled with index-matching Super-LumiNova. For the hour and minute hands, the lume will glow blue, whereas the lume dot on the seconds hand will match the green of the lume dot on the bezel. The domed sapphire crystal protects the dial and hands and adds more vintage character.
Final thoughts on the new Bronze Gold and burgundy Seamaster 300M Diver
Omega’s caliber 8806 is visible through the Bronze Gold and sapphire display case back. The Master Chronometer movement operates at a 25,200vph frequency, offers a 55-hour power reserve, and has 35 jewels. It features Omega’s Co-Axial escapement, a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring, magnetism resistance to 15,000 gauss, and an accuracy of 0/+6 seconds per day. As you can see in the pictures, Omega offers the new Bronze Gold Seamaster Diver 300M with a curved-end black rubber strap, which comes fitted with a Bronze Gold buckle. This version costs €15,400. Alternatively, you can buy the watch on a brushed Bronze Gold mesh bracelet with a folding clasp, which will cost €31,000.
I had to wrap my head around that price tag. Then again, a glance at other Bronze Gold and Moonshine/Sedna Gold models reveals that the prices of today’s releases are in line with their peers. But more than €30K for a Bronze Gold watch is simply a hefty price tag. Does that make me like the watch less? Not in the least. I love the classic looks of this new Bronze Gold version of the Seamaster 300M Diver. The combination of Bronze Gold and burgundy works so well. Additionally, the bracelet beautifully enhances the watch’s stylish, almost retro look.
It shows the great versatility of this latest Seamaster 300M Diver design. While my favorite, both in aspiration and looks, is still the recent black-dial steel version, I certainly like this new Bronze Gold and burgundy variant a lot too. That’s why I can’t wait to see it in real life and take it for a spin! But what do you think of this new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M offering?
