One of the things I loved best about being a Panerai owner was changing straps regularly. By swapping their “shoes,” the look of the Panerai watches drastically changed. Unfortunately, REM Straps did not exist at the time. We got to know the folks at the company very well during our partnership on Speedmaster straps. Firenze Legends for Panerai watches

Today, REM introduces its Firenze Legends collection of Panerai straps. According to Totte el Siddig, co-founder of REM Straps, Panerai collectors (Paneristi) are on top of the game when it comes to switching straps. The new Firenze Legends collection is a wonderful alternative to the more classic Panerai straps.

REM always sources its leather from the Swedish tannery Tärnsjö Garveri It’s a vegetable-tanned saddle leather. Furthermore, all of the processing and production steps take place in Sweden. The straps consist of a single-layer construction with a single keeper. REM is fitting all the Firenze Legends straps with metal tubes (for the spring bars). The straps are available in three colors — black, cognac, and natural. However, REM offers a variety of stitching options. The standard length of the Firenze Legends is 125mm / 75mm, but as each strap is individually cut by laser, so REM also offers custom lengths upon request. These REM straps are suitable for Panerai watches with a lug spacing of 22mm, 24mm, and even 26mm. All straps come with the pre-Vendome-style buckle.

Four collections for Panerai

The Firenze Legends collection consists of several designs. Just like the Fratello × REM Speedmaster straps, the patterns are all laser engraved and manually colored in the REM studios. For now, there are four sub-collections of the Firenze Legends straps. The Il Casco, for example, refers to the heroes of the deep, showing a detailed laser engraving of a diving helmet.

Another Panerai strap is the Referenza. The laser engraving is filled with luminescent paint and complemented by the silhouette of the Maiale (torpedo submarine). Additionally, there’s a line within the Firenze Legends that goes by the name of Maiale. As these torpedo submarines have a special place in Panerai’s history, REM dedicates these straps to them.

The last, for now, is REM’s Millenovecentocinquanta strap. It celebrates the Panerai Luminor 1950 (PAM000127) and all the references that used this case design. These straps have enlarged outlined numerals that form an almost abstract pattern.

Various widths and lengths

As mentioned above, all REM Firenze Legends straps are available in 22mm, 24mm, and 26mm widths. The standard length is 125mm / 75mm, but customers can also order custom lengths. All Firenze Legends straps are 4.5–5.5mm thick depending on the type.
