Introducing: The Rolex Settimo Bracelet For The Perpetual 1908 In 18K Yellow Gold
According to Lex, wearing a Rolex watch is like saying, “I made it, and I want everybody to know it.” But he also said, “For those who want something more discrete, though, there’s the Rolex Perpetual 1908 dress watch.” Then again, he didn’t know the brand was working on a full 18K yellow gold bracelet for it. It’s called the Settimo, which refers to its seven-row construction. It also features a concealed Crownclasp, and its end links don’t fully conform to the case. Let’s take a closer look.
Rolex introduced its new Perpetual 1908 collection two years ago to take the place of the Cellini. The dress watches feature a 39mm case in yellow gold, white gold, or, since last year, platinum. That last version has an ice-blue dial with rice-grain guilloché and applied indexes. For the other two versions, you can choose between a white or black dial. The new Settimo bracelet is only available for the 18K yellow gold version of the Rolex Perpetual 1908.
The Settimo bracelet
Rolex is famous for, among many things, its magnificent bracelets. The company is among the best bracelet makers in the industry, so it’s a big deal when a party like that introduces a new bracelet. In terms of construction, the new Settimo bracelet is closest to the famous Jubilee. However, instead of five rows of links, the new bracelet has seven. The five rows of links in the middle are slightly narrower than the two on the outside. These smaller links should make this one of Rolex’s most supple bracelets to date.
Just like the Perpetual 1908’s case, the Settimo bracelet has an entirely polished finish. Its end links are fairly straight and don’t tightly hug the 1908’s case, leaving some space between the two elements. To open and close the bracelet, it comes with a very elegant and concealed Crownclasp.
A 10-grand option
On a leather strap, the Rolex Perpetual 1908 ref. 52508 costs CHF 23,400, and on the new 18K yellow gold Settimo bracelet, that price goes up to CHF 33,400. This means the full-gold bracelet is a CHF 10,000 option. To be honest, that seems quite fair, and I think this bracelet truly makes the Perpetual 1908 shine. It’s nice and dressy on a leather strap, but on this new Settimo bracelet, you can finally wear the 1908 like a real Rolex should be worn. The Perpetual 1908 on its new full-gold bracelet screams, “I made it, and I want everybody to know it!” — and that’s exactly how it should be when you’re wearing a Rolex.
