Introducing: The TAG Heuer Carrera Day-Date And A New Beads-Of-Rice Bracelet
For Watches and Wonders 2025, TAG Heuer announces a new lineup of Carrera Day-Date watches. Six references complete the collection with a variety of dials, case materials, and functions. Also, a new beads-of-rice bracelet is now an option for all Carrera Chronograph Glassbox models.
For enthusiasts, the Carrera Day-Date may not be as exciting as a new chronograph, but these watches are the heart and soul of the collection. The reality is that these are what most potential buyers will consider for everyday wear. Thankfully, TAG Heuer has brought several attractive choices.
The Carrera Day-Date
The new Carrera Day-Date models are 41mm stainless steel watches with a 47.5mm lug-to-lug. Each offers a 12.57mm thickness, which seems appropriate for this type of watch. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters. As mentioned, TAG Heuer has created six models for this release. The materials, bracelet and strap options, and dials all differ. What’s common is a focus on displaying the day and the date along with the brand’s logo as an applied fixture on the dial.
Five day-date models and one 24-hour watch
If a high-quality daily watch is on your shopping list, there’s probably a new Carrera Day-Date to match your interests. One option with a grained black dial comes with a black and turquoise perforated leather strap and a push-button clasp. This is the most affordable version at CHF 3,900.
Two sunray-dial models are available with a dark blue or smoky red hue. These pieces come exclusively on a bracelet with a push-button clasp. Each sells for CHF 4,100.
The new Day-Date also has upscale versions with black opaline dials. These feature 18K 5N gold-plated details, such as the hands, indexes, and day/date frame. At CHF 4,300, the model with the solid stainless bracelet is the more affordable version.
Adding gold to the bracelet’s center links nearly doubles the price to CHF 8,250. Judging from the press materials and the increase in cost, the gold links are solid 18K 5N gold.
Carrera Day-Date movement
The Carrera Day-Date is equipped with the TH31-02, an automatic movement produced by the AMT division at Sellita. It’s visible under a sapphire display and has a nice skeletonized TAG Heuer logo as the rotor. The movement has a frequency of 28,800vph and an impressive 80 hours of power reserve. Setting the day and date functions is simple too, with both controlled via the crown.
Bracelet details
The bracelets included with various Carrera Day-Date models have push-button butterfly clasps. More importantly, the links avoid using a pin-and-collar system for removal. Looking at the back side of the links reveals small buttons. These can be depressed easily, and links can be added or subtracted from the bracelet. It’s a nice system and a much-appreciated feature on watches in this price bracket.
The Twin-Time is the odd watch out
TAG Heuer chose to group the new Carrera Day Twin-Time with the Day-Date release even though it lacks a day window. Dimensionally, the watch is identical to the other pieces. It has a teal sunray dial and an extra hand indicating an additional time zone. Indeed, this is a so-called “caller” GMT with its quick-setting 24-hour hand and use of the familiar automatic TH31-03 movement. Whereas the Day-Date models use applied batons as the indexes, the Twin-Time opts for applied Arabic numerals. While it may not be fair to compare, I like this watch best due to the date window at 6 o’clock and the overall color scheme. The price is set at CHF 4,750.
A new beads-of-rice bracelet for the Carrera Chronograph Glassbox models
Finally, TAG Heuer has announced a new stainless steel beads-of-rice bracelet as an option for all Carrera Chronograph Glassbox models. Think of this as a modern reinterpretation of the beloved Gay Frères designs from the ’60s. Instead of a stamped clasp, though, this bracelet has a push-button folding clasp. In photos, it’s an elegant option in comparison to the standard three-row accessory and should be even more comfortable.
Final thoughts
The new Carrera Day-Date and Twin-Time should prove popular for those interested in a classy daily watch. At these prices, the latest TAG Heuer watches bring a movement with an impressive power reserve and are set to challenge models from Omega, Breitling, and others.
