Introducing: The Timex × Worn & Wound WW75 V3
Collaborations between watch brands and online media titles are nothing new. However, many are expensive premium products. Worn & Wound, which often focuses on affordable watches and independent brands, works with watch companies to create fun, credible limited editions. The latest results of these efforts are the new Timex × Worn & Wound WW75 V3 models.
In late September, we covered the last Worn & Wound collaboration piece with Lorier, the Astra Stargazer. This uniquely designed watch sold out quickly, a normal phenomenon for Worn & Wound’s projects. Now, for the third time, the Timex WW75 is the chosen platform for a new set of collaboration pieces. The WW75 V3 comprises two limited editions with manual-winding movements.
The Timex × Worn & Wound WW75 V3
The WW75 V3 follows prior releases using a 37mm stainless steel military-inspired ’70s C-case design. The retro details continue with a domed acrylic crystal and a dateless dial. These watches have a 50m depth rating and use a solid steel case back fixed with four screws. From a wearability standpoint, the watches have a very reasonable 43mm lug-to-lug and a 12.7mm total thickness. Two versions make up this release, which is great news.
The Sunflower
The WW75 V3 Sunflower uses a yellow diamond-pattern dial. The inspiration for this color is the change from summer to fall. The dial’s edge is darker yellow and provides contrast. In addition, white minute numerals run around the inside of the polished baton-style hour markers.
The Sunflower uses dark green for the brand name, minute track, and within the cardinal indices. Continuing the fall theme, this version has orange hour and minute hands containing luminous material. Then, summer creeps in for the aqua seconds hand. This watch comes with an olive-green nylon military strap.
The Sunset
Next, let’s look at the darker WW75 V3 Sunset model. Its magenta dial resembles the Sun setting over water during fall and winter. Once again, it has a diamond pattern and eschews a date window.
While the two models are similar, the Sunset contains light blue crosshairs and a matching minute track. Its dial has fully polished applied indices at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock. The remaining indices contain two stripes of teal-blue paint. Next, darker teal hour and minute hands feature pink luminous material. This color is echoed on the logo and tip of the seconds hand. Finally, the watch comes on a blue and white striped nylon military strap.
A manual-winding movement
Timex typically opts for a quartz movement in this case style. However, the Timex × Worn & Wound WW75 V3 ups the appeal for enthusiasts with a manual-winding caliber. To aid affordability, the team chose the Seagull TY6. This movement has a frequency of 21,600vph and 40 hours of power reserve.
Pricing and availability
The Timex × Worn & Wound WW75 V3 Sunset and Sunflower models will each be available as numbered limited editions of 500 pieces. Pricing is set at an affordable US$239. Moreover, 900 watches will be available at the Worn & Wound Windup Shop, and 100 pieces will be sold through Timex. Once again, Worn & Wound has created another compelling set of approachable watches that should sell well. Which is your favorite of the two?
