Launch of the Hublot Classic Fusion Amsterdam Boutique Edition + Giveaway
Last week we joined Hublot for a canal cruise in the center of Amsterdam for the launch of a new watch. Officially called ‘Hublot Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Special Amsterdam Boutique Edition’. We went to the recently opened Hublot Boutique in the P.C. Hooftstraat in Amsterdam, which is named after Pieter Cornelisz Hooft, who was a Dutch historian, poet and playwright and lived from 1581–1647. This street is paradise in Amsterdam for those who are looking for an exclusive shopping destination.
Amsterdam Hublot Boutique
Meeting up in the recently opened Hublot Boutique we are welcomed with champagne and typical Dutch snacks. Cheese cubes and (liver) sausage. Only the little Dutch flags that need to go in there were missing, but I remember how hard it was to buy those recently for my daughters birthday. Something that was more common when we were kids but always put a smile on our faces. Well I know it does for at least the Dutch part of our team. So already a great start of the evening.
For me, it was the first time in the Hublot Boutique in Amsterdam and I was surprised by what I saw. Of course, it looks good as you can expect from a watch boutique but the number of watches was quite impressive. And not only common models but anything from entry-level all the way to exclusive pieces like the Hublot MP-05 LAFERRARI APERTA with a list price of 546,000 Euro.
Canal cruise
After having a look around at both levels of the boutique and meeting the other guests for the evening we made our way to the next location. Close to the boutique, we go aboard the ‘Soeverein‘ which is a luxurious riverboat that cruises the canals of Amsterdam. Complete with a hand-painted ceiling, classic fabrics and chandeliers this boat has a great atmosphere. Surprisingly the first person that introduced himself when getting on board is Dutch singer and songwriter Douwe Bob. Born and raised in Amsterdam he will take care of the musical entertainment at the beginning of the evening.
To cut a long story short we enjoyed a special evening on the canals of Amsterdam. During dinner, Nathalie Rother (PR & Communication Manager Central Europe) held a speech and presented their new Classic Fusion Amsterdam Boutique Edition.
Classic Fusion Amsterdam Boutique Edition
Limited to 20 pieces only and exclusively available through the Hublot Boutique in Amsterdam. The Hublot Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph Special Amsterdam Boutique Edition is made in bronze and dedicated to Amsterdam. It has the typical 3 Saint Andrew’s crosses, which can be found throughout the city, prominently placed at 12 o’clock. These crosses are part of the official coat of arms symbol of the city of Amsterdam and widely used. Another tribute to the city is the map of the canals which shows on the glass case-back of the watch.
Over time this watch will become more unique as the bronze case will create more patina the longer you wear it. Not too long ago we showed you how to speed up the patina of bronze watches. So for sure bronze is an interesting material for a watches but the ageing is more fun when it’s done by enjoying the watch on the wrist. Measuring 45mm it’s the largest execution of the Classic Fusion which ranges all the way from 33mm depending on the model. The strap is a mixture of calf leather and rubber with red stitching. All the main colours that are used for this watch can be found in the coat of arms symbol of the city.
Powered by the Hublot Caliber HUB1155 this chronograph comes with a 42-hour power reserve. Thanks to the skeletonized dial the movement and date wheel are mostly visible yet the date is displayed at 6 o’clock. The watch comes in a special display box which has a opening that resembles the typical Hublot glass and bezel. It’s decorated with some typical Dutch canal houses and a boat. For the fans of Hublot and Amsterdam this watch retails for 22.800 Euro while stock lasts. Contact the boutique for more info.
Giveaway
As with many events we receive a goody bag at the end which usually holds all the press information and often contains a gift. In this case, we received an exclusive Amsterdam soccer jersey (size large) with HUBLOT and (Johan Cruyff’s) number 14 on the back as shown below by singer Douwe Bob.
As we are more into watches and know little about soccer this shirt would end up in a drawer and that would be considered a waste by some. Hence we decided to give it away in return for a few little favours.
