Hands-On With H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Centre Seconds For Women
There is much truth in the notion that minimalism never goes out of style. Throughout the years, when we look at watches, only a handful of styles have withstood the test of time. Many of them have timeless minimalism in common. The latest H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Centre Seconds, characterized by its classic-yet-modern silhouette, is one of them.
H. Moser & Cie. has designed Endeavour Centre Seconds with the idea of simplicity at its heart. The result? An entirely pure concept brought to life with the subtlest of flourishes. Straight away, I was attracted by the 3 hands adorning the dial and the finishing of the case. As an independent family watch brand, Moser is constantly coming up with ideas that push the boundaries not only in terms of technical innovation but also when it comes to design. Therefore I have had my eye on the ladies’ Endeavour Centre Seconds. While the watch is an intriguing package, its dial — the true star of the show — is simply fascinating.
A burgundy fumé dial
The signature element of this Endeavour Centre Seconds reference 1200-1208 is definitely the dial. The burgundy fumé perfectly underlines Moser’s determination to create unconventional, contemporary watches. The sunburst pattern and burgundy gradient enhance the three-handed design. However, here you will search in vain for the logo, not to mention indexes, numerals, or any other markings. The face features no more than elegant leaf-shaped hands accentuating the considered effortlessness of the design.
A devotion to minimalism
The watch features a 30m, water-resistant case that is 38mm long and 10.3mm thick. 60 brilliant-cut diamonds (1.13 ct) adorn the stainless steel bezel. The loving attention to detail can be seen in the finishing of the case. My heart is sold on the polished and vertically brushed parts. The finishing beautifully highlights the sculpted case and its gently-curved, ergonomic back, which sits comfortably on ladies’ wrists.
The elastic, thick leather grey alligator strap gives a contemporary edge to the overall look. The simple steel pin buckle engraved with the Moser logo and vertical satin finishing enhances the final touch.
The HMC 200 movement
The edge-to-edge display case back reveals an in-house caliber HMC 200. The HMC 200 can generate a power reserve of 72 hours (3 days) and operates at 21,600vph. However, there are more surprises in store. The original Straumann Hairspring with its flat overcoil equips this timepiece with laudable shock-resistance for such a dressy piece. As you would expect from a Moser, the finishing of the HMC 200 is astonishing. The signature Moser Stripes decorate the movement. Additionally, the H. Moser hallmark and two types of surface finish embellish the gold rotor.
Timeless, effortless, and feminine
The watch industry is like the luxury fashion market in that it is saturated with brand emblems. Drawing inspiration from what is a minimalistic design, Moser has refused to follow the trend. Even though the clean aesthetic is what women around the world want, will this trend apply to watches as well? Moser has established its position through its own exquisite, elegant silhouettes, not to mention its well-recognized dials and product exclusivity. In fact, this is a watchmaker that has remained on the cutting edge of things. Additionally, its drive to maintain brand exclusivity means that just 100 pieces will be produced at a price of CHF 15,900. For more information please visit the H. Moser & Cie website.
