The Code41 Anomaly-01 Collector Edition: An Early Celebration Of An Eight-Year Anniversary
It was back in 2016 that Code41 first launched the Anomaly-01 via a Kickstarter campaign. The debut went well, and since then, the brand has had success in making a number of watch models with a wide variety of price points and functions. Today, though, is about celebrating the beginning with the Anomaly-01 Collector Edition.
Recently, I wrote about the Code41 Mecascape, a mind-bending piece of horology. It led me to take a closer look at the brand and its different offerings. There’s a wide array on the Code41 website, including a tourbillon. However, the Anomaly-01 is the watch that is responsible for the brand’s success. When it was first launched in 2016, it easily blew away its funding goal on Kickstarter. Today’s Collector Edition pays tribute to that period while bringing some new touches. It’s slated for delivery in 2024, thus qualifying it as an eighth-anniversary model.
The Code41 Anomaly-01 Collector Edition
The new Collector Edition uses a 41.5 × 48.5mm stainless steel case that is shared with the Anomaly-T4. In this application, though, Code41 brings new colors together on its dial, including sand, white, and blue hands with Super-LumiNova. Note the “Collector Edition” script around the dial edge from roughly 4 to 6 o’clock. The modern-looking watch uses a sapphire crystal with an antireflective coating and is rated water resistant to 10 ATM. Expect the watches to come on a variety of straps with the option of upgrading to a stainless bracelet.
The artwork on the case back of the Anomaly-01 took me by surprise at first, but it’s there for a reason. It turns out that the original model from 2016 was emblazoned with a star if the supporter managed to recommend five people to back the campaign. The sheriff is meant to signify this with the star on his hat. The portal-like display window is the barrel of a gun. I think it’s fun and a nice spin on the normal display case back. Despite the appearance of a beefy case back, these watches are only 11.2mm thick.
The automatic Miyota 82S7
When staring down the barrel of the gun, one gets an eyeful of the automatic Miyota 82S7. This is a relatively straightforward and robust movement with a 42-hour power reserve. Display-wise, it’s a bit different from the norm, featuring a rotating disc for the seconds at 5 o’clock and the 24-hour display at 9. Note that this is not a GMT but an AM/PM indicator. All told, for a very modern-looking dial, it’s quite legible and attractive.
Availability and pricing
The Code41 Anomaly-01 Collector Edition will be available for order online from November 22nd through November 30th. Prices will start at CHF 1,398 and vary depending on the strap or bracelet options. Deliveries are slated for Autumn 2024. This newest piece should please fans of the brand, and I can imagine that original supporters will be keen to add this latest anniversary model as a nice capstone to their collections.
