Nomos Gets Ready For A Colorful Spring — Introducing The Club Campus In Nonstop Red And Endless Blue
Even without mentioning the name, if I tell you these watches have an all-polished 36 or 38.5mm case, Roman and Arabic numerals, a hand-wound movement, and colorful dials with a contrasting sub-seconds hand, you’ll probably already know what watches I’m talking about. The Nomos Club Campus has become quite an icon for the young Saxon watchmaker. No wonder the brand keeps improving its design with small alterations. But even with those minor adjustments, the Club Campus is still very recognizable and popular with more novice and seasoned watch enthusiasts alike. And now two more vibrant colors are joining the collection — Nonstop Red and Endless Blue. Let’s take a look!
Every year, Nomos introduces two new and exciting yet remarkably appropriate colors to the Club Campus lineup. Look, for example, at last year’s Cream Coral and Electric Green. They look fresh but also very characteristic of the rest of the range. The Club Campus’s design is a nice mix of a clean case, playful hour markers, and bright colors that make it look even more striking. The same goes for these two new versions in red and blue, and they’ll fit right in with the rest of the family.
The Nomos Club Campus Nonstop Red and Endless Blue
In terms of the all-polished stainless steel case, there won’t be any surprises for you here. You can choose between a 36 or 38.5mm diameter. Both are very slender at 8.2 and 8.5mm thick, respectively. And, as we’re used to now with Nomos, they both have relatively long and elegant lugs. The smaller one spans 47.5mm from lug to lug, and the bigger size is 48.9mm long. On the right side of the case, you’ll find the nicely sized push-pull crown with which you can wind the in-house-built movement. Even though it’s not a screw-down crown, the Club Campus is still water resistant to 100 meters. This is also achieved with the help of the slightly domed sapphire crystal that covers the dial.
The dial layout is also still very familiar. There are Arabic numerals at 10, 12, and 2 o’clock, with Roman numerals on each side of the sub-seconds dial. All numerals, the straight indexes in between, and the hour and minute hands have an application of blue-glowing Super-LumiNova for legibility in the dark.
Now we get to those bright and bold colors. The Nonstop Red looks like it came directly from a fire truck. Nomos combines it with light blue for the hour markers’ outlines and the numerals on the minute track. The two colors contrast each other nicely.
The Endless Blue version gives me a lot of summer vibes. It’s almost turquoise but more blue than green, while the outlines of the hour markers are pastel purple. By contrast, the numerals on the minute track are printed in pastel green this time. The orange sub-seconds hand stands much more on this version than the red one.
A fan favorite with a blank canvas
I don’t know if you noticed, but I’m a fan of the Nomos Club Campus. Its straightforward design language, playful numerals, and overall simplicity speak to me. Of these two new versions, the Nonstop Red one is most definitely my favorite. Yes, it’s so bright that the orange sub-seconds hand is harder to notice, so a more contrasting color could have worked well there. But all Club Campus watches have an orange sub-seconds hand, so that would’ve been a bit too inconsistent for the German designers, I think.
As mentioned, the Nomos Club Campus is powered by the in-house-built Alpha hand-wound movement. It holds a power reserve of 43 hours and is decorated with Glashütte ribbing and Nomos perlage. If you opt for the sapphire case back, you can get a look at some of those blued screws and a few of its 17 jewels. This option costs €200 more, though, and you miss out on the free engraving Nomos offers on the nearly blank all-steel case back. I think I’d go for the latter option. Nomos can engrave up to four lines of text with 22 characters each. What kind of message would you put on the back of your Nomos Club Campus?
Available now
The new Nomos Club Campus in Nonstop Red and Endless Blue is available now for €1,300 or €1,400, depending on the smaller or bigger size. Both colors come on a gray velour leather strap, but I’m sure you can find other straps that would make for some cool combos.
