At standalone IWC boutiques, customers can engage in a customization process to create a unique Portugieser Chronograph. The program was limited to the Zurich and Geneva boutiques but is expanding globally. The 41mm watch is available in a stainless steel or 18K 5N (red) gold case. Then, buyers can choose from 12 exclusive dial colors, including turquoise, aubergine, ginger, and indigo. Each hue is available with rhodium- or gold-plated hands and indices to match the desired case material.

Then, there are dozens of strap and bracelet options. These include calf leather, alligator, TimberTex, or rubber in many shades. How long does it take to receive a specially crafted Portugieser Chronograph? The answer may surprise you. In just three weeks, the unique model will arrive with a small “I” for “individualization” in a circle in the seconds sub-dial. The price is calculated during the on-site process.

A new boutique in Amsterdam

IWC has also opened a new boutique in Amsterdam that participates in the Portugieser Chronograph customization program. It features a special area where customers can work through all the myriad options before selecting their final product.

Additionally, customers can enjoy comfortable sitting areas, fireplaces, and screens showing the IWC manufacture. Other areas highlight the brand’s engineering expertise, and there’s even a watchmaking atelier for service. Finally, the Big Pilot bar serves drinks and coffee to help enhance the experience.
