Parmigiani Fleurier Introduces Tonda Métropolitaine And Tonda Selen

Parmigiani has always been famous for its design. From the technical to the aesthetic, PF is known for pushing boundaries. The Tonda Collection often offers the perfect blend of modern lines and luxury embellishments. The range works well for men and women, primarily because it is a great canvas for expression. With the new Parmigiani Tonda Métropolitaine and Tonda Selen models, the brand exercises its creative powers.
Unabashedly feminine
The new line consists of two models — one with a moon phase indicator, one without. Each model is available with either an aventurine dial or a Mother of Pearl dial. Pictured here we have the Métropolitaine with the MOP dial and the Tonda Selen with an uncluttered aventurine visage.
This unabashedly feminine line emphasizes how Haute Horlogerie is important to the house of Parmigiani as Métropolitaine and Selen feature exquisite craftsmanship. The 33 and 36mm cases are made from 18k rose gold topped by gorgeous diamond pavé bezels set with 46 or 64 brilliant-cut diamonds. Despite those diamond surrounds, the dials are most definitely the standout elements of both models. And best of all, you get a choice of materials: mother-of-pearl and aventurine.
A more modern appearance
While aventurine dial has a more modern appearance (with or without the moon phase indicator), the fine gold lacework placed on the variations with mother-of-pearl dials turns things up to 11.
Both Tonda dials feature 18-karat rose gold Arabic hour markers, leaf-shaped hands, a small seconds sub-dial set at six o’clock, and a blue sapphire/white opal cabochon embellish the crown. Of course, the option of a moon phase indicator presents another possibility entirely.
These richly adorned faces certainly set the stage for a more refined strap choice. Straps made by Hermès come in two colors: indigo blue alligator leather for the model with aventurine, and taupe calf leather for mother-of-pearl variants.
The Movements
The movements are in-house automatic calibers. The PF310 is the base, while the PF318 features the moon phase on top. Both have a beautifully hand-finished rotor made from 18-karat rose gold that can be seen through the sapphire crystal case back. The self-winding calibers measure 23.9 mm in diameter and 3.9 mm in thickness. Their power reserve runs to 50 hours and the watch ticks at 4 Hz, or 28,800vph.
Avant-garde Proposition for Women
Parmigiani Fleurier is no minimalist. You won’t find simple options in its new Tonda collection. These new models are certainly an ode to a world of opulence, dreams, and fantasy.
