It’s a great time to be a watch-obsessed woman. It’s been a long time coming, but the tide is turning. Finally, we are getting more and more pieces of interest. Brands are finally taking note of their modern customer’s needs. Firstly, creating timepieces exclusively for women is a must. Gone are the days in which it was acceptable to cover a man’s watch with diamonds. This exclusivity shines through in the Piaget Limelight Gala models and exactly the kind of spontaneous femininity I adore. For 2020, the Swiss Maison has planned to release ten new models of which six are the Limelight Gala we all know, while another four models are high-jewelry creations.
The Dazzling Side of Life
This collection embodies the brand. They are elegant. They are sexy. Through them, Piaget is able to communicate its identity. And through that, women to whom this range appeals are able to express theirs.
Sleek pieces crafted with 18-karat white or rose gold are enlivened by the touch of diamonds. The precious stones draw a line from the case to the lugs, holding everything together. This design is available in two different case diameters — either 32mm or 26mm. Different designs come with different straps/bracelets.

Speaking of the band style, the bracelet is, in my opinion, perfection itself. It is made by assembling hundreds of 18-karat white gold links. Consequently, the weight is significant. But the opulence is undeniable! The model on the bracelet has a blue enamel dial, while other variations come with mother-of-pearl or aventurine dials.
Haute Joaillerie by Piaget
The other four models express the spirit of Haute Joaillerie. Resembling a sparkling galaxy in its design, these jewelry timepieces are made of 18-karat white gold and are paved with precious gems such as marquise-cut and brilliant-cut diamonds in various colors, orange marquise-cut sapphires, marquise-cut rubies, and iridescent opal. The case measures 28×23mm and comes with a dark blue satin strap, or with gem-pave fully integrated bracelet.

Quartz movements power all of these novelties. For me, however, this does not detract from the overall effect. These are clearly jewelry-first timepieces. I think they should be loved for the passion that artisans put into creating such stunning works of art. Piaget is my second favorite watch brand. Mostly because along with the evolution of this Swiss Maison and its focus on Haute-Joaillerie. I find the Limelight gala a poetic collection that adds a modern touch to the original design.
