Add More Waves To Your Seamaster 300M

REM Straps needs no introduction here on Fratello. As you know, we’ve been doing a monthly collaboration with the company on Speedmaster straps this year. But REM’s portfolio is much bigger than just those, of course. The Swedish brand creates straps that will suit any kind of watch but also ones for specific models. One of those is the Omega Seamaster 300M, and REM’s Big Waves strap is the perfect complement to it.

The Seamaster (Professional/Diver) 300M has been Omega’s bread-and-butter watch since 1993. Aside from its helium valve, one of its most famous characteristics is the wave-pattern dial (yes, that did disappear for a few years). REM sent us two straps to try on our Seamaster 300M watches, so that’s what we did!

Lots of options for the REM Big Waves strap

Nacho put the black REM Big Waves strap on his Omega Seamaster 300M 2254.50, and I put the blue version on my reference 2531.80. The wave pattern perfectly matches the wave pattern on the dial of the 300M watches. REM offers the straps not only in the pictured black and blue colors but also in cognac, gray, dark green, and dark brown. The options for stitching are extensive too. You can choose between black, white, beige, gold, dark brown, orange, red, navy blue, dark green, and apricot.

Just like the REM × Fratello straps, these are made of vegetable-tanned leather supplied by Swedish tannery Tärnsjö Garveri. The laser-engraved wave pattern is colored by hand, and on the inside of the strap, you will find an engraved unique serial number. The Big Waves strap comes in one size, measuring 127mm for the long portion and 74mm for the short one (excluding the buckle).

Complete package

All REM Big Waves straps come in a nice box with a certificate matching the unique number on the inside of the strap. I’d like to note that leather is (or was?) a living material, and colors will vary and age differently. So don’t expect the exact color you see here. There is a chance that it will be slightly different from the pictures on the website.

Don’t swim with it

Despite having a diver’s watch on your wrist, don’t take it in the water with a leather strap. That not only goes for the REM Big Waves strap but also any other leather strap. Anyway, for me, wearing a leather strap on the 300M was always quite challenging. I’ve tried many different leather straps but found myself switching back to the original steel bracelet, OEM rubber strap, or a NATO. This blue Big Waves strap is one of the few that does look good on the “James Bond” 300M in my opinion. The same applies to the black strap we received for the 2254.50.

Price and availability

After working with REM on our collaboration straps for approximately a year now, I am happy to say that they hold up very well. Whether you like the (very rugged) style is personal, but I think REM did a wonderful job creating a nice strap for the classic Seamaster 300M from Omega. I am not a big fan of all the engraved text on the buckles, but I am sure I have an 18mm buckle lying around here that will fit.
