BaselWorld 2017 Novelty – Sinn 103 St Sa E Limited Edition
Limited to 300 pieces only, Sinn introduces this 103 St Sa E watch based on one of their most classic (pilot) watches.
The Sinn 103 is a classic that has been in their collection forever. Now, they introduce a version with a beautiful ivory-coloured coating on the indices, hands and numbers. It gives the Sinn 103 St Sa E this beautiful vintage look & feel. Sinn seems to be joining the retro-game that is played by so many brands today. Is that a bad thing? Certainly not, as a lot of collectors love these details. Perhaps purists might prefer the “original” or at least something as ‘clean’ as possible, but we can’t deny that ‘faux-patina’ is hip and happening.
Besides that, the Sinn 103 St Sa E is just as cool as it ever was. A no-nonsense pilot’s watch with a reliable movement (ETA/Valjoux 7750 in this case), 41mm case diameter (and 17mm thick), AR-coated sapphire crystal, screwable crown and pushers and a 60-minute scale captive bezel with minute ratcheting. The watch complies to a couple of DIN standards for water and shock resistance as well as being anti-magnetic. A real tool watch.
The Sinn 103 St Sa E comes with a nice leather strap with the popular ‘vintage’ stitching. However, the watch is also available on rubber and the two types of stainless steel bracelets. The Sinn 103 is a very legible chronograph and fits right in the line-up of the IWC Pilot Chronograph and Speedmaster Professional for example. Chronographs with a high contrast dial. The day and date disc are black (like the dial) with white printing.
The prices of the Sinn 103 St Sa E limited edition start at 1990 Euro, depending on the strap/bracelet configuration. The most expensive version will retail for 2160 Euro. However, if you want to have your watch equipped with the Sinn Ar-Dehumidifying Technology (for enhanced freedom from fogging) you have to pay a 160 Euro premium. These prices might differ outside Germany, due to their distribution model. The expected delivery time of this watch is 12 weeks.
