The July 2024 Fratello × REM Strap — Lunar Crater
It’s the last Tuesday of the month, which means we’re introducing a new Speedmaster strap in collaboration with the Swedish brand REM. We decided to choose a leather color we had never used before and feature an engraving of the lunar surface in a contrasting shade.
The inspiration behind the Lunar Crater strap
Lunar craters are circular depressions on the Moon’s surface created primarily by the impact of meteoroids and asteroids. An impact like this occurs at high speed, causing an explosion that displaces and excavates the lunar soil, forming a crater. Unlike Earth, the Moon lacks an atmosphere and weather, so craters remain relatively unchanged over billions of years. However, newer impacts can modify or obscure older ones.
NASA’s Apollo missions, particularly Apollo 11, provided extensive data on lunar craters. The Apollo astronauts collected samples, took photographs, and deployed scientific instruments around craters. More recently, in 1998, NASA’s Lunar Prospector mission mapped the Moon’s surface composition, gravity, and magnetic fields. It provided data on the composition of lunar craters and their potential resources.
Fratello × REM Lunar Crater strap
Anyway, we just wanted to create a new strap that would look good on any Omega Speedmaster Professional. In the images, the new July 2024 Fratello × REM Lunar Crater strap is attached to a 1990s Speedmaster ref. 3590.50. In our opinion, the tritium’s yellowish patina goes very well with the natural color of the leather strap.
As always, REM only uses organic leather from its home country of Sweden. The premium organic vegetable-tanned leather is supplied by Swedish tannery Tärnsjö Garveri. Each watch strap is engraved with our collaborative name and the month of this strap’s edition (July 2024). The entire production process, including the stitching and laser engraving, occurs in Sweden.
The 20mm strap tapers to 18mm wide at the steel pin buckle. The Fratello × REM Lunar Crater strap also comes with a buckle that, as always, bears an engraved Fratello signature.

This strap measures 127mm on the long end, 74mm on the short one (excluding the buckle), and 2.5mm thick. It is available in our shop today for €107 (excluding VAT).
