ToW Gibralfaro. A Power Reserve Watch for rally drivers and vintage lovers
The brand ToW – Time of Watches was established in Málaga, Spain at the beginning of 2015, selling their own designed watches and straps to the Spanish market. Now, they have decided to enter in the micro brand’s watches market, oriented to mechanical watch enthusiasts.
The ToW Gibralfaro has a racing vintage style inspired on rallying, receiving its name commemorating their local Gibralfaro rally, and the iconic chronographs of the 70s/80s. Inspiration that arose in details like the power reserve indicator, or the hands inspired in the classic rally cars dashboards. The mainly brushed modular case, custom made in 3 pieces, and the custom applied indices mixing brushed and polished surfaces complete their interpretation of the retro-sporty look. The Gibralfaro, with its 41mm diameter and 48mm lug to lug, offers you the classical look and experience of wear a vintage watch but remastered with the latest technology, remaining extremely comfortable for any wrist size.
The Gibralfaro is made by watch enthusiasts for watch enthusiasts and owing to that, every small detail has been taken care, both in the design and technical aspect, to obtain a consistent product without lacks in any aspect. A good evidence of that is the double domed sapphire crystal with inner antireflective layer, the Swiss Super- Luminova, or the generous water resistance to allow use the watch under any circumstance.
The movement equipped well worth a mention aside, the Miyota 9130, a modern movement which beats at 28.800 vph, with more than 40 hours power reserve, hacking function and manual winding. In addition, the winding rotor of the movement has been decorated with the Gibralfaro logo, which represents one of the mythical stages of the Gibralfaro Rally, the “Casarabonela” stage.
The Gibralfaro is offered with two different strap options. A full leather nato and a racing style strap, inspired in the micro-perforated leather of the seats and steering wheels of classic sport cars. Both handmade in vegetable tanned leathers locally in Spain.
The packaging must be a truly added value for the watch, and that is why ToW have designed two options to store your Gibralfaro in mint condition. A classic leather travel case and a stunning leather watch-roll. The watch-roll is inspired by the leather toolkit rolls that many classic sport cars included in its trunk, continuing the design code of the watch.
The new Gibralfaro watch will be launched in Kickstarter crowdfunding platform the May 18th starting at 260€, a great deal undoubtedly considering the quality and personal design offered.
