Watches & Wonder 2021: Chanel Introduce Its New Collection — Electro
It’s more than 34 years since Chanel debuted with its first watch — Première. Today, the French luxury fashion Maison introduces four new models dubbed the Chanel Electro collection. When I look at this collection I can immediately see a strong reference to electronic music and culture. Let’s have a look at the four timepieces constituting the Chanel Electro line.
J12 Electro
I couldn’t start with anything other than with the most recognizable watch Chanel has on its books — the J12. After 21 years of multifarious variations of the J12, today we’re witnessing another interesting shade of one of the industry’s best-loved chameleons. This time polished black ceramic is given a shot of vitality by contrasting yet colorful details. Twelve colors pop up on the ceramic dial and bezel, bringing the watch to life. Following on from Breitling’s awesome limited SuperOcean Heritage last year, this dial set-up looks at once fresh and familiar.
The 38mm case houses the automatic caliber 12.1. The finishing of this 70-hour-power-reserve movement with a COSC-certification is simply stunning.
Première Electro
What could be more classic than the very first Chanel? For this collection, Chanel ensures a more modern, minimalistic, and effortless approach. The simplistic octagonal watch case and a matching chain bracelet bring the whole thing together. Nevertheless, the gradation of the leather and a shocking-pink Chanel logo give this watch a totally different ambiance. The Electro is powered by a quartz movement.
Code Coco Electro
Next up is my favorite watch from the entire Chanel Electro collection — the Code Coco. Obviously, some of you might not be impressed with this quartz watch. However, as a woman who loves statement watches, I simply do not care what’s inside; I care how wonderful it might look on my petite wrist. Straight lines and a real clarity of vision make this piece a winner in my book. It is a very modern (almost hyper-modern) take on the classic jewelry watch. It’s a bold statement and will certainly ruffle some feathers, but that’s what Haute Couture/Horlogerie should do!
Boy Friend Electro
Last but not least, the Chanel Boy Friend Electro is the watch that stands out from this collection. Instead of using bright colors as accents to emphasize the inspiration behind the collection, Chanel settled on captivating gem-setting.
The Chanel Electro
Speaking of the Chanel Electro collection, these four models are part of the regular line. Additionally, there are four J12 watches dripping with diamonds. From the matte black watch set with 12 baguette-cut rainbow sapphires to the white gold beauty with x-ray dial and the caliber 3.1, everyone who appreciates Haute Couture/Horlogerie will find something special. All Haute Horlogerie timepieces are numbered and limited, or just limited so I recommend booking yours without hesitation. For more information, please visit the Chanel website.
