Weekend Watch Lists – Top 10 Ladies Watches
It’s weekend! We decided to come up with some easy-to-digest content for the weekend, as you’ve probably been doing enough reading all week. From now on, we will publish our Weekend Watch Lists feature every weekend, to show you overviews with information about the consumer watch market. Our overviews are based on data from on-line watch consumers. Per list we will indicate the countries from which we used the data, as this will vary to keep it interesting. It will be interesting to see how much taste in watches can differ per country and continent. Data is retrieved from Chronolytics.ch, watch market research company that operates under the flag of Ebner Verlag (publishing house of magazines like WatchTime, Uhren Magazine, Chronos etc.).
We thought it would be interesting to see what type of brands do well when it comes to ladies watches and more precise, which models do well for ladies watches. We asked Chronolytics to get us an overview of all brands that are favoured when it comes to ladies watches, quartz or mechanical. Of course, ladies also buy or want men’s watches these days, but these are not included. The overview is purely based on ladies watches. The period of the research is Q1 2015 and based on demand from European countries and the United States.
Besides a Top 10 Ladies watch brands overview, we’ll also show you the Top 10 Ladies Watches by models. If it isn’t for mothers day on this tenth of May, let it be an inspiration for the next one (or Christmas, or her birthday, or just because). We asked for all watches, including new and pre-owned.
Above, the difference is merely in the order of preference, the brands are equal. Only Rolex, Cartier and Omega come #1, #2 and #3 in both charts. Of course, we didn’t ask to define an overview in a certain price range. If we’d done so, the list would have looked different and might have shown more similarities in order in certain price ranges. It is interesting to see that the demand for Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe is much higher in the USA than in Europe.
Now, let’s have a look at the models. The query is the same, but now we had it drilled-down on model/collection level. As always, the first few brands in the Top 10 list make up for almost all models in the Top 10 Ladies Watches overview.
Interesting to see that in all the violence of Rolex, Cartier and Omega, Chopard (ranked #6 as a brands in the USA and #5 in Europe), knows to get a spot in the Top 10 Ladies Watches overview with their Happy Sport model. Of course, Rolex and Cartier have to divide the demand for their brands in several models/collections. Omega is there with the Constellation collection. No sign of the De Ville Ladymatic or Seamaster in the Top 10 Ladies Watches.
