October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the third year in a row, Zenith presents a limited-edition watch to support this noble cause. In 2022, the Swiss brand made a Chronomaster Original with a very pink dial. Last year was the Chronomaster Sport’s turn, and now the Zenith Defy Skyline lends its dial to raise money. No less than 20% of the proceeds of the 100 limited editions will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Its vision is a world without breast cancer. In the meantime, the Foundation tries to save lives by investing in breakthrough research.

Let’s take a look at the new 41mm Zenith Defy Skyline in pink, which supports the fight against breast cancer.

The 41mm Zenith Defy Skyline Pink limited edition

This actually isn’t the first Zenith Defy in pink. Fans of the brand will know there was already a pink-dial 36mm Defy Skyline. The recipe for the new limited edition version isn’t very different other than the larger size and a change of movement. This one’s stainless steel case measures 41mm in diameter. It’s also 12.5mm thick and measures 47mm from lug to lug. Apart from the polished bevels, the case, bezel, and integrated bracelet are almost completely brushed.

But, of course, it’s really all about the starburst pink dial. Notice how the brushed texture originates from the Zenith star instead of from the center. Much of the dial’s surface is decorated with the familiar four-pointed-star motif. Together with the stepped chapter ring and sub-dial, it creates a lot of depth. Both the hands and the applied markers are beveled and carry a nice amount of luminous material. At 3 o’clock, there’s a cutout to view the pink date disc, while at 9 o’clock, there’s the concentric-grained sub-dial. This register has markings accurate to 1/10th of a second, which has everything to do with the high-frequency movement powering the Zenith Defy Skyline 41mm.

Zenith’s El Primero 3620 automatic movement in the non-limited edition Defy Skyline

A signature movement

Inside this limited-edition Zenith Defy Skyline is the company’s El Primero 3620 automatic movement. It runs at a high frequency of 36,000vph, holds a power reserve of 60 hours, and features 35 jewels. The star-shaped rotor is visible through the exhibition case back. Because of the watch’s robust construction, it’s water resistant to 100 meters.

Available now

Compared to the regular Zenith Defy Skyline, this pink edition might not have a very original recipe. Then again, that’s not what this watch is all about. This watch is all about the cause it’s supporting, and that pink dial is all for it. Successful watches, such as the Tudor Black Bay Chrono, have shown that pink is a very well-accepted color now within the watch community. I feel it’s very generous of Zenith to transfer 20% of the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Other brands also support charities, but they’re not always as open about how they’re contributing. I applaud Zenith for its transparency and generosity in this case.
