Singer Reimagined Keeps The GMT Hits Coming With The 1970 DualTrack
About two weeks ago, during Geneva Watch Days, I visited the Singer atelier in Geneva. It’s a beautiful place, slightly hidden on a street near the lake, where Singer Reimagined works on its watches. There, I got a first glimpse of what the brand introduced today — the Singer Reimagined 1970 DualTrack.
The Singer Reimagined 1970 DualTrack
This is a new design for Singer Reimagined! Just a few months ago, in April, the brand introduced the DualTrack, a GMT watch based on the Singer ST5000 movement, which had previously debuted in its Caballero collection. Like that watch, the new Singer 1970 DualTrack uses the ST5001, albeit with a slightly slimmer 6.66mm profile (down from 7.33mm). While the Singer DualTrack measured 15mm thick, this new 1970 DualTrack is 12.6mm thick. But let’s save all the specifications for later.
1970s design code
This new Singer 1970 DualTrack is a clear nod to the sports watches of that era, many of which had sharp surfaces, satin-brushed and polished finishes, and chunky cases and bracelets. This 1970s design code was not limited to watches, of course. We also saw it in cars (the Lancia Stratos Zero Bertone comes to mind) and HiFi (Marantz is a good example). Singer managed to devise a watch with sharper lines than anything we’ve ever seen from the brand and paired it with the Track Curb bracelet. As its name suggests, this bracelet’s links should remind you of racetrack curbs. Singer defines it as an integrated-bracelet design, with the first link inserted into the case body and no protruding links or traditional spring bars. Singer’s Track Curb bracelet tapers from 22mm to 18mm wide. Inside the folding clasp, you will find a fine-adjustment system.
Three dial variations
This 40mm Singer 1970 DualTrack is available in three dial variations. I’ve seen all three, and when asked which I preferred, I had a hard time deciding.
Khaki green is perhaps Singer’s iconic color, and it pairs beautifully with the gold flange and 24-hour scale. The Cobalt blue-dial edition has a similar color scheme with gold-colored elements, but I picked the 1970 DualTrack Dark Espresso brown as my favorite of the three.
Gold and brown are a wonderful combination, and the almost-black 24-hour track keeps it relatively quiet compared to the other two.
Second-time-zone pusher
At 6 o’clock sits the inverted triangular indicator for the second time zone. It points to the 24-hour scale, which you can advance by one hour using the pusher at 9 o’clock. It works the same as the Singer Reimagined DualTrack introduced previously. This also means that the 1970 DualTrack is a caller GMT (instead of a flyer GMT). The rhodium-plated hands, with applied orange Super-LumiNova and a gold cabochon at the center, are unmistakably Singer elements.
Calibre 4 DT Slim
Inside the Singer 1970 DualTrack, we find a slimmed-down version of the ST5001 movement, referred to as Calibre 4 DT Slim. Singer has slightly reduced the thickness of the upper bridge to achieve a thinner movement. It still comprises 197 components, offers the same functionality, and a 144-hour power reserve. This manual-winding caliber requires 109 turns for a full wind and provides a minimum of six-day power reserve.
As you can see, the movement’s decoration and finishing are beautiful to admire through the case back’s sapphire display. Four large barrels are clearly visible, and the movement’s architecture offers a lot to observe. This barrel construction ensures an even flow of energy, so the amplitude and accuracy remain consistent from start to finish. Singer warrants an accuracy of -4/+6 seconds per day, in accordance with chronometer standards.
First impressions
It’s no secret that I have developed a weak spot for Singer Reimagined. Whether it’s the DiveTrack, Caballero, DualTrack, or this new 1970 DualTrack, they all struck a chord with me. I had the pleasure of trying the 1970 DualTrack on my wrist (unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera with me, but I will post a short video on my Instagram account). It’s very comfortable to wear, and I love how it looks, perhaps because I was born in the ’70s. Although the new 1970 DualTrack is different from what Singer Reimagined has done in the past, it fits the brand’s lineup and may attract a new type of customer.
The Singer Reimagined 1970 DualTrack retails for CHF 23,500 (ex. VAT). It will be part of the regular collection (not limited) and will be available as of October 2026.
